Grabbed something from a forum-site I'm on. Hope it counts, though it may be confusing [different world]. I would have written something just for the occasion... but RL. xD
Jeshi laughed, lightly. "Oh of course, don't want to keep the Steward waiting." He moved out of the girl and her cart's way, gesturing for her to go first as a woman should. He was going to make sure that he led her through the halls and passageways in the Hold which where they would not be interrupted, first and foremost for curiosity's sake. Call it... a boring day. Call it potential delight in not being around the pompous and belittling daughters and sons of those in a higher place than he, for once he'd been given the opportunity to feel above someone more than mentally and emotionally without the distinctive bad flavor of talking to a born-drudge who couldn't help but be lesser than he. He was a proud man, was Jeshi; and he enjoyed to strut.
It was around the second time they turned a corner, where Jeshi pointed out and explained its certain useful features like where to it led and other practical important things he believed she would forget anyways... it was around this second turn where Jeshi realized it.
She was sneaking glances at him.
For a moment, he wondered if it was simple attraction, he believed himself to be handsome but knew very well that his size was what girls avoided rather than craved [and that "pretty boy" moniker had held, unfortunately] so he didn't hold with that thought for long. It soon became apparent that she had picked up on his clothing, a little to elaborate for an Assistant of anyone, and that gem which glittered on his ear. Telling, he knew. But the threads were from his father and the gem was from his mother and they were quite flattering, and marked him as a little more powerful than most of the idiots he worked for. He couldn't give them up for the sake of a more believable appearance.
She was a little too innocent to hide her curiosity, but Jeshi had to back-track on that 'idiot' statement already. She was no deadglow, this one. Perhaps she would even come in handy later? Someone who was so obviously not a threat could hear things, and she was quick enough to pick up but she was a foolish woman and if he befriended her she would spill as long as he promised not to spread rumors. Which he wouldn't. Anything he picked up would be for his own benefit.
I could use her, Jeshi thought. But now I must be careful where I trod, I have to 'befriend' her first. The term he did not like, but he could always pretend to be a friend; it never had to be a reality. Like he would tie himself down to a 'friend'. They were not necessary things for a pleasant life.
His eyes narrowed when she spoke of the lady. But, ah well, he'd brought that on himself.
Vivry's past made sense, and the puzzle pieces were coming together now. Jeshi would have left it at that, sated, however he had also discovered she was a useful creature. Now he had to figure out how to become her friend without setting off any unpleasant alarms. It had been a while, the last time he'd had friends his own age... well. It had been a while.
She looked incredibly hopeful, like a big-eyed canine, at the end of her sentence. It was annoying, but Jeshi swallowed back that feeling and smiled reassuringly once more. "What an important task! I can see they entrusted it to someone who will take it so seriously."
"You said you're new here, correct? Well, once you're free, I can certainly show you anywhere you'd like to go. I'm done with my chores for this afternoon for a while, after I help you drop this off to the Steward."
There. That was nice, normal; friendly.
Any semi-lit/lit RPs you have: I'm a literate forum roleplayer mainly, I've done a couple of roleplays here but I'm too busy for that right now [RL issues].
