Question: How did you get interested in daemonism?
The books, I have to say, |D

Is there any way for your daemon to be a mythical creature permanently?

In the bookverse, it is mentioned that someone had a basilisk or a cockatrice as a daemon (and on one occasion Pantalaimon takes the form of a small dragon), but since they are fictional, and therefore don't have any analyzable behavior, they are not considered permanent forms. Your daemon can, however, take the form of a mythical creature for fun whenever he/she wants to. My Tos likes to be a labrador-sized green dragon sometimes, even though his actual form is either a binturong or a hairy-legged vampire bat.

It's awesome to see so many new people! Welcome, everyone, I hope you and your dæ are having a good time. I've technically only been a dæmian for about two years, but I've been projecting and chatting with my dæmon since I was in elementary school XD So if you have any questions feel free to ask me, I know my way around the dæmon world pretty well :P

Are you open about your Daemonism? Do you hide it from others or happily let everyone know?
Ahh, I'm semi-open about it. I talk about it all the time on the internet, but sadly that's the only really place I can feel comfortable chatting about it. If someone brought up the topic I'd probably participate in the discussion, but I might not directly reference to the fact that I have a dæmon. It's a perfectly normal and pretty cool concept, but most of the world will just see it as an imaginary friend that I won't grow out of or completely misunderstand me and think I'm getting into some sort of crazy cult. >_< A couple of my real life friends know about it, one which has a dæmon (hehe I'm talking about you LOCW =D ) and another which has something similar but doesn't consider herself a dæmian.

Question: How did you get interested in daemonism?
I've been projecting Chi before I could even really remember. He was one of my first OCs, and over the years he grew more and more developed and close to me and now, as weird as it sounds, he's like my best friend. I didn't know about dæmonism itself until I found this thread. I was scrolling around Adult Chat and reading the spirit animal thread for fun and then I saw this thread linked to it. When I read through it, I realized that I was not the only person to project their conscience into a character and I thought it was so awesome. I quickly headed over to TDF, made an account (although I don't post much anymore since I don't have any friends on there), and bought The Golden Compass. (Which is now my all-time favorite novel, right next to Clement-Davies' The Sight)

Hey LOCW, who's your dæmon right now? Is it Halogen or Jedi or someone else...?

Oh, and since we all like answering questions, I'll post a new one ;D

Oh and I have a question for you guys, (I always forget this aghhh), how do you pronounce dæmian? Is it like DEE-mee-an or DAY-mian or something else?? I know dæmon can be DEE-mon like "demon" or "DAY-mon" with more emphasis on the "a" sound but is that the same for "dæmian"? Sorry, pronouncing words is not my strong suit xP

Og goodness, did you ever make such a mess out of your posts that you had to completely delete and rewrite them in order to make any sense? .-.

What personality traits would you use to describe your dæmon? Is s/he similar to you or more of your opposite?
How do I begin?
Sarkûn shares a lot of traits with me, but it's the combination that matters.

Some of the things we have in common are that we're both arrogant, rarely able to take ourselves entirely serious, curious, attentive, talkative, and have a desire to see more of the world.
In short, traits that I either like about myself (such as curiosity), or find to be necessary (I tried suppressing my arrogance for a while. It ended in dangerously low self-esteem and depression. The trick is not to try and make it go away, but to turn it into something tolerable. I usually make up for my big ego by making myself the butt end of perhaps half of my jokes.).
It helps me to nourish what is good about me, and to stay aware of my flaws.

But the latter doesn't really work with all flaws, so Kûn has to balance a lot of them.
I'm a rather reactionary person, so Kûn has to be very calm and hard to anger/irritate.
He always stays cool and reasonable. When I'm angry/sad/whatever, he's the voice that tells me what I should do.
"That guy? Yeah, he's a moron, but just nod in respect and pretend you didn't notice. We can still make fun of him later. Right now you should x or y."

Kûn also shares part of my humour. The dry and factual kind, that little bit of me that's responsible for laconic observations.
I suppose he might as well have ended up with all of my humour, if it weren't for the fact that Van, a character of mine, already existed before him, and snagged away the job of delivering darker-than-black, crossing-the-line-twice flavoured remarks.
Talking of jobs, those two guys are actually more of a team. I like to call Kûn my voice of reason, while Van is straight-forward and brutally honest, making him a bit of a voice of emotion. Not entirely, though, since he's still a character and therefore a different person. Kinda like a best friend who's always there x)
If it weren't for him, Kûn might have ended up being dramatically different from who he is now.

I think if Sarkûn were completely like me, or the exact opposite, I wouldn't be able to stay balanced. I need him to be able to understand me, but exhibit much better judgement.
If he were exactly like me, I'd probably be an emotional bomb ready to go off at the smallest tremor.
If he were too different, I'd likely feel like a stranger to myself. I couldn't process thoughts and emotions as well, and might even have a hard time socialising with others.

...Oh, and he's unbreakably cheerful.

As in settled as a mythical creature? The general consensus is that no, your daemon cannot settle as a mythical creature. You can, however, project them as one if that's an easier form for you to project. What you project =/= your settled form. I like to project Cyrus as a Crocotta but he's settled as a Thylacoleo Carnifex.

What personality traits would you use to describe your dæmon? Is s/he similar to you or more of your opposite?
Cy's pretty much me but he's a lot more emotionally grounded. While I'm kinda prone to getting worked up and caught up in my emotions, he can bring me back down to earth and tell me to take a deep breath. He still has my snark, sarcasm, and chattyness, but he's still a great balance. I couldn't ask for a better mental other half.

Well, Halogen's officially my daemon, bit Jedi... He's something else. There's probably no real name for it, but he's very special, and I don't know how to describe it. |D

Sarcastic, definitely, but nice, friendly, and funny.

Aahh Phinx. I guess he's similar to me but some days I'm not so sure XD
Phinx is like my 'gentleman' side. He doesn't say anything rash or be loud or anything, he does make me laugh though; with his subtle yet amusing acts.
Phinx is kinda the 'strong' side of me. Honestly I don't know what I would do without him. If I'm in doubt, to what extent no matter, Phinx is always there and he manages to coax me out of not doing things. Lots of the time he can be quiet, though still there. If he's in a happy mood though he's talkative, slightly sarcastic and fun.
Lots of people say them and their dæmon are contradictory, Phinx and I think almost exactly the same way so unless it's a decision I'm very unsure about we usually agree on things and back each other up.
We make a good team I guess that's the way to put it c:

I say day-mon. Not that I ever say the word much XD I read the book when I was quite young, about... Eight or Nine, maybe Ten? Anyways, I first thought it was Daymon and at the time I did feel uncomfortable saying Demon and so the habit stuck and I can't Change it XD I've tried c:

I was reading up on the Forums and the Osprey is exactly like me. The likeness is incredible!
Is there an easier way to find the analyses or do you have to browse yourself? I did look for a search bar but couldn't find one, I'm looking for an in depth beech marten, the only one I've found is short an on the first few pages :3

^^Hi c:
Yeah it kinda depends on opinion, they can be your dæmon but it's more if you want to have a horse following you around (:
But yeah I'm pretty sure it can be anything (correct me I I'm wrong)
I've honestly only gone as large as an Antelope/Goat before, large forms arnt our thing.

I have a question, can large animals be daemons? Such as horses or Buffalo? Just curious ^^

Of course daemons can be large animals c:
Any kind of species would be possible as a form. And even if your settled/stable form isn't large, your dae can still take any shape they want to c: A few pages ago it was even discussed if anyone's daemons sometimes took the shape of inanimate objects x)
My daemon's stable form is not very large, but one of his comfort forms is a terror bird, so there you go xD

Since the question came up as well:
Is there an easier way to find the analyses or do you have to browse yourself?

Here is the general Analysis Index for TDF; if you're looking for a specific animal, just use ctrl+f to find it c:
Various horse breeds can be found under "Perissodactyla". Here's one on the American Buffalo.
