It was then discovered the nest was the Oviraptor's and it was a parent protecting it. However, new evidence of egg-stealing has come to light. An Oviraptor nest has been found, and in it, an embryo belonged to a completely different dinosaur.

While this does, by no means, rule out Coelophysis did cannibalize occasionally, the one skeleton turned out to belong to a small crocodile and the other, while it was indeed a Coelophysis, was behind the individual, not inside it.

Super glad I just stumbled upon this topic omg. Alright so i’m taking a Prehistoric - Mycenean art history class and i’m obsessed with the first artifact they showed us. Its called the Makapansgat Pebble and its 3 million years old (thats around Australopithecus!) and its a pebble with two eyes and a mouth scratched onto it. I immediately started crying bc… like… they put a face on it 🥺
