what're your guys' thoughts on Hoppers "death". I personally think hes either the Russian Prisoner at the very end or stuck in the upside down. If you watch closely he wasn't on the platform when it exploded. It was empty by then.

ok i honestly have some mixed feelings on this season. first, the cinematography was really amazing and so much of it was very well done and fun to watch. the writing is kind of what throws me off though, some of the characters just seemed inconsistent - mostly hopper, but kind of joyce and karen too. there were a few other things, but overall i think it was a really good season! except for the fact that will was pretty much just a background character, i want him back!
as for hopper's "death", i don't think he actually died. as @winona ryder mentioned, it didn't look like he was on the platform, which i think was intentional. there was even a ladder over there.

People are saying hopper’s in the russian prison. In s4, i feel like this will bring the byers to everyone else at least temporarily.

but either way he's gonna be gone cuz you saw that thing, but ill admit i cried with the letter that l read. personally i loved the season but the fact the hopper went simi crazy and alexi's death made me stop for like ten minutes, yes he was a russian dude but come on a sweet russian dude gets killed by these guys? Another this who else thought Dustian was lying and Susie?

I just wanna say that I forgot which episode but in one of the episodes of the 3rd season hopper says a phone number and I dare yall to call it (it is an easter egg and hopper says something on the voicemail once you get to it owo lol)

i love max's growth this season she's really integrated herself into the group and i love her friendship with el.
mike kind of annoyed me this season though, but i wish we got to see more of him will and lucas. and robin !
shes such a good addition to the show i love the scoop troops dynamic a lot and it didnt feel like she was extra
or anything. and i cried when..... billy hopper and alexei died, the letter really got me. also i love the colours in
this season starcourt mall was a really good backdrop and i really enjoyed all the scenes with the kids kind of wandering
through it. and poor will..... i feel bad for him. fingers crossed we'll see hopper again next season

The phone call was post st3, murray has information about something for joyce, not good nor bad, but it needs to be given in person.
David so far has spelled out the first few digits of the number of Murray's answering machine in his daily PFP change on instagram. (so far, day four we're down to 618-6
The message they gave when you originally called it is different now, and now you just receive a standard answering machine BUT, it starts reciting another number before it gets cut off. It gives you the number 2001, which while I have yet to figure out what this could mean (ive looked into Post Cold War treaties and such taking place in 2001, police and EMS codes, so far nothing. I believe its something I just dont know what.)

watch the set tour CLOSELY. Look at the drawing in Will's room. They purposely pan over it and show it to us. Its a prisoner that looks a lot like hopper. With the prisoner number 403-X on his chest. 403 is the room Mrs. Driscoll was staying in in the hospital, and X is the cyrillic equivalent of the letter H.

The production im pretty sure is turning this into an Alternate Mystery Game, the cast has confirmed it a few different times in a few different ways that Hopper is alive, so I have hope that he is. I just don't know where

- Millie said "or so she thinks" when discussing El losing hopper.
- Cara said she's bringing his heart to Gulag, Kamchatka --> Gulag is a Soviet Labor Camp, Kamchatka is the location they show at
the very beginning / post credit scenes
- David posted a picture when he finished filming st3, talking about having Gary watch over hawkins "while Im Away" and tagged
it with #SpoilersWithoutContext
- A reporter says David said that he is the American, but this I havent seen yet.
- Winona at the premiere, when asked what she'd do with El's powers, she said she'd open cages and gave a look (not the one in
response to what David said, but the one following it) hinting that shes revealing something she shouldn't be. Now Winona's
very big on no spoilers, David not so much, but what if she didn't mean cages but she meant cells? It would be
easier to slip by and most people wouldn't pay much attention to it at all at the time.

Since they seemingly could go either way with it. Its like Schrodinger's cat. If you think he's the prisoner, he'll be in the upside down, but if you think hes in the upside down he'll be the prisoner.

Edit: Not to mention if you look closely at the scenes before it explodes, the platform is empty. You can see faintly a figure inside the gate afterwards. There are a few ladders he had access to to get down prior to it exploding. We don't see remains (meanwhile we do with the others), we don't see it happen. One of the biggest unspoken rules in film is if you don't see a body theyre not dead. He's heavily based on Magnum PI. and Magnum had his death faked a season.

They played Heroes by David Bowie, which had played when they found Will's body. The Duffers pick every song for a reason, they do everything with a purpose. Now they may not have exact details written yet for st4, but I do very much believe hes alive.

As a side note; all of the little references they made to Winona movies made me very happy. They so often forget she exists, let alone is an 80s icon.

- Erica making the reference to calling Beetlejuice
- Alexei's love for cherry slushies and Winona telling hopper that he wanted cherry is a direct link back to Heather's
- My Bologna (pardody of My Charona) playing in one of the solo scenes Winona had is a direct reference to Reality Bites (even though not an 80's movie it is the movies 25th anniversary this year)
