I'm currently rewatching some of my favourite episodes while waiting for the new ones.
Does anyone know when the new season will come out? I can't find any information on the official website.

Since the twins are among your favorite characters… Do you think Yuuna can actually see Mana-chan or do you think she just plays along with Chance's fantasy?

On another note, I see that you like South Park: Re-watching ImA now that I know South Park is very distracting when it comes to the headmaster. Mister Maki is supposed to be this scary headmaster, and then his name is pronounced almost the same as one of the most ridiculous South Park teachers! I keep laughing when I'm supposed to be scared, because I imagine Mr. Mackey doing those things…

I don't really think anyone can see her but Chance. I've never once seen anyone talk to Mana-chan without Chance being around, so that just supports this theory. I think it's very important to Yuuna to get along with everyone and not upset her friends so it's likely she's just playing along for Chance.

Also, I've never thought about that similarity between the names but now I will never be able to look at Maki the same again!

And here are some new questions for you guys. We've seen a lot of backstories now in Season 1 and 2, so I thought I'd ask some questions here:

I personally thought the Tanabe siblings' (that's Yuzuki and Shiro) backstory (or lack of one) in Episode 10 of Season 2 was a funny twist. Everyone was convinced Yuzuki and Shiro had some terribly tragic story because of their sometimes disturbing behavior, and they assumed Kuro was some angel who helped Shiro with his issues, since they were always kind to each other. Then it turned out Kuro and his mom (Kitti's homeroom teacher) were the ones with issues and Shiro was the one supporting Kuro, whereas Shiro and Yuzuki had a happy and super normal family.

Whose backstory did you think was...
1. The most interesting? Either Kuro or Washa. He's not very popular in the fandom, since he's kind of a jerk at times, but his backstory episode really fleshed out his psyche, and made me even more curious to find out who/what Rose is.
2. The most emotional? Kitti! Hers isn't quite so dramatic as everyone else's, but it's also more relatable. You can just feel her frustration and disappointment when she gets expelled from yet another school, and when she keeps losing her friends.
3. The weirdest? Eh. I mean, they're all really weird, but if I had to choose... Chance. It's great, anyway, but still very unusual.
4. The most explanatory? Jean/Naoki's joint backstory, way back in Season 1. Explains both their behaviours a fair bit, and young Naoki was surprisingly adorable.
5. The most overdone? Daini. I mean, he's not a bad character, and the episode in question's kind of good anyway by virtue of Lilly + the best musical piece (imho) in ImA. Still, it's basically a non-stop fest of "Daini does bad things".
6 The biggest surprise? Shiro/Yuzuki, like you said. I was on the bandwagon for the "Yuzuki and Shiro are heavily neglected" theory, and then the writers were just like "haha no".

Chance's story is unusual, with Mana-chan and all, so that's definitely one of the weirder ones, but I think the very weirdest backstory would have to be Mr. Maki's. I mean, his wife actually decided to keep a BEAR as a pet. A freaking bear. But maybe you didn't see that episode yet: while looking for the second half of Season 2 that I still can't find (I'm still stuck halfway wondering who is gonna die!), I instead found a couple bonus episodes, and one of them featured Mr. Maki's backstory.

Don't know if I could decide on a most explanatory, but this one definitely does the job of explaining things.

I actually meant overdone as in "so many tragic events that it turns into a sob story and makes it less relatable instead of more", but an entire episode consisting of Daini doing bad things sounds overdone in a different way . Which episode is that? I bet it's in the second half of Season 2, since I don't remember ever seeing it.

I edited my original post just a bit before you posted. It says "when she keeps losing her friends" now. I can't actually remember what my original phrasing was going to be, but I think it was something like "when she first sat alone during lunchtime". Then I remembered that it was implied she usually did that at most of her old schools...

You're right - I haven't seen that one. I'll see if I can find it; that sounds hilarious!

Daini's backstory was in Episode 23 of Season 2, I believe, as part of the buildup to the finale.

We were discussing backstories and Season 2, among other things, but feel welcome to talk about anything ImA-related!

Hope it's okay to revive a 2-year-old thread - I saw this in Livini's signature and ended up rewatching the entirety of season 1. And I realised something.

The scene in season 1 ep 15 where we see a flashback to the woman who gave Kitti the bear? It was Rose. She has one blue eye and one brown eye, like Rose apparently did (before losing one). They have the same hair colour - use an eyedropper on both screenshots and you'll see. Plus we know she used to work with toys.

Thing is, though, I'm not sure why she'd do that, given the Rose we see hates kids. Any theories?
