@kaitlynizer one thing to keep in mind when writing forms is that--at least for me--judges generally dont really want to/dont have the time to read huge walls of text. sometimes quantity doesnt always communicate quality. if i were you id write all of the main points you want to make then go back and either remove extraneous, unneeded, and redundant info completely or move it to a miscellaneous section of your form (ex: if you have some quirks listed in a section outlining personality, move the quirks to their own section. this also has the perk of making your form appear longer in the sense that you put an extra section in it. basically ppl are more receptive to many shorter sections instead of one huge section that couldve been split). then proofread your writing and change wording, etc, to be as impacting as possible. you can say a lot with less. show that you put in effort, but don't go overboard?? ahh does this make any sense?? im sorry if i explained this badly 8v
also i agree with what detective said, little details about a character make them seem a lot more relatable and realistic so dont forego them completely! it also shows the judge that youve put a lot of thought into the character

@kaitlynizer; honestly what aaronzee said pretty much sums up how i feel about things as well. really large walls of text intimidate me and i normally skip over those forms until the very last because i find them difficult to get through in a timely manner. just basically, break things up, keep them short/sweet/to the point, make it look pretty, and cut out all of the unnecessary things. i also tend to really love interesting/original character types. i'm kind of turned away from the cliche overly grumpy, or cliche timid/shy characters.

also i have another adopt ufa!! they're one of my favorite designs yet so i am hoping they go to a good owner >w<

Wow, your new adopt is so cool! I absolutely adore the orange jumpsuit and their shadow. Out of curiosity, how do you come up with creative ideas for adopts? Do you look on the suggestion list, or is it more inspiration based?

On another note, I have a question about the dollhouse realm - is it more like a parallel world (like ours, only with magic?) or another place entirely? And once dolls are in the realm, is it ever possible for them to return to the other side of the portal, as long as they have their shadow with them? owo

The Dollhouse is sort of in a different realm, but that's it. Like, all BJDs are in the normal human-world, until they travel to the Dollhouse. The Dollhouse looks the size of a normal dollhouse on the outside, but inside it's like a giant resort with rooms and doors to different dimensions and such. (Sorry if this isn't very clear, aha)

ahh i'm so happy to see this thread livening up! i'd also like to give a quick welcome to the new artists! i really love all the new adopts you guys have put out♥

@consulting.detective lala is definitely one of my favorite designs so far, congrats on winning him!!

@whisky & MultipleDinosaurs i love the art for 27! i can tell already it's gonna be a hard contest to judge

@Kaitlynizer - i've gotta go with aaronzee on the form thing too~ as a judge (while i love to see a lot of thought put into a character), large walls of text are really intimidating, so if you have a lot of info in your form try to break it up into neat, easily read portions. when i judge i do a process of elimination sort of thing, so i'll go through forms 3-4+ times before i come to a decision. i also really like it when people put in the effort to make their forms look pretty mostly because im a sucker for pretty things. also, try to make your form stand out in a way! give the character a quirk or trait that you wouldn't expect based on their appearance, it gives them more personality, imo~ sorry if this is hard to understand - my thought process tends to bounce all over the place

i know i've got two adopts still up but i've been itching to put more up so - I'd like to borrow Hiroko's idea for plume 550 and have you guys decide on the key characteristics of the next doll~ pm me(or post here) 3-5 traits (like hair color/type, body type, skin color, wings/horns/tails, etc), and i'll put it into a generator and use the first four or five that come out. you can also give trait suggestions for the shadow, if you'd like!
