    Also, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is set in New York, so that means there must be wizards/schools in America c:

    The International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy (also known as International Statute of Secrecy) is a law in the wizarding world that was first signed in 1689, then established officially in 1692. The law was laid down by the International Confederation of Wizards to safeguard the wizarding community from Muggles and hide its presence from the world at large.

so your saying you would waste your time trolling muggles if you were a wizard, on a childrens website?

Well, I live in Britain and my letter somehow missed me and I went to the local bung-hole high school instead (we won't say how many years ago I should've got my letter, haha). T__T I think the owl got lost... or it was possibly bullied and chased away by vicious pigeons. Or keep-left signs. We have a lot of those. (A ginger newt to anyone who got the vicious keep-left sign reference, hehe.)

In GoF, didn't it mention at the Quidditch World Cup how there were witches from the Salem Witches' Institute there? I like to think that those of you across the pond had your own magical schools too. ^^

@cocostar its not mentioned in the book. That's just <what Rowling has said i think lol

@hanamadol I would like to think that as well. I mean there was also the beauxbatons academy and Durmstrange academy. But i always wonder, why wouldn't the other schools, like the american one, have been apart of the triwizard tournament? YES i understand TRIwizard. But, why. did it have to be TRI? Food for thought

Maybe it is similar to a school district? Those three wizarding schools are closer together than other wizarding academies, so they chose to participate in the Triwizard tournament together. Hogwarts, Dumstrange, and Beauxbatons are all in Europe. I think that it could be possible that in North America and/or South America would create their own sort of 'districts.' This is the only answer I can think of that would fit.

If the Salem Witches' Institute is indeed a school (though from what I've read it could be a counterpart to the Women's Institute), then it is most likely only for witches. Implying that there would have to be a wizard's school as well somewhere else on North America.

also, I found the Brazilian Wizarding School [located; Brazil] & Mahoutokoro School of Magic [located; Japan]

Yo guys and gals~
If you have a Harry Potter ship or ships.. Which Harry Potter ship was the first (the first ship you started shipping) and what made you ship it? Was it thanks to a fanfiction(s), scenes in the books, scenes in the movies, or did a friend share the ship you?

Ships as in not from the books? Mine would still be Neville and Luna. to me its just right. I'm not sure if that's a good one but i stick by it whole heartedly. Um...lets see if i can do this right. Lunille? No.....Nuna? Eww... Luville..... wow i picked a really bad couple ;_;

So I wanted to say this before I forgot.. How was harry (or james) a great seeker? If you think about it, a seeker has to have AMAZING eyesight(according to what i get from the books) to be able to see the snitch. But....and i quote from one of the greatest witches of all time
Hermione Granger wrote: Harry, your eyesight is really awful.

So.. how is it harry can see a snitch even through a storm... But Oliver Wood couldn't even see it through practice? Harry could even see it sitting in the stands when he wad banned from quidditch in HBP ooops...I'm ashamed... i meant OotP

I'd say that's due to the marvels of optical correction, personally. ^^;; I can't see text a metre away from me, but put my glasses on my nose, and I can. Hermione cast the water-repelling charm impervius on his glasses so Harry could see through lashing rain for the match against Hufflepuff in PoA as well, so I think it's entirely possible to see tiny details if your eyes (with correction) are able to pick them up.

As for ships, I don't really have any, but I can be partial to a bit of WolfStar if my mood takes me. I also like Remus with Tonks. I'm okay with canon pairs in general over random ships, although I wonder how different things would've been if Lily and Snape had managed to make a go of it?
