The cat returns was my first Ghibli film. At that time, it was the strangest movie I had ever seen. I think I was seven, maybe? My dad was also trying to get me to watch Spirited away and Kiki's delivery service then but I adamantly refused. He always described Spirited away as " A girl gets her parents stolen by ghosts" which, didn't sound very interesting, and I now know isn't a very good description at all.

I heard a while ago that Studio Ghibli was having some hard times and they were relying on profits from their past movies because their recent ones weren't that popular.

Probably because Hayao Miyazaki retired. I think the didn't have that much money at the beginning either though so hopefully it will work out for them.

That's a shame! I hope things get better for them soon, some of their upcoming movies sound really good!

They are working on an adaption of Ronia, the Robber's Daughter. I watched the movie adaption of the novel several times and I like it very much so I'm not sure if I can get used to the different looks of the characters (and I'm so used to their german voices), but I'm sure that the backgrounds will be beautiful.

Did I ever tell you guys about the time I went to a Ghibli festival at the tiff light box? I don't think I did.
Sometime last summer, the tiff did a thing, they called it Spirited away:the films of studio Ghibli. I went to see
Nausicaa and Howl's moving castle, both in Japanese with English subtitling. It was great.
Though weirdly at the same time they had a David cronenberg thing so I was like ewww during the ads beforehand
