Finn - Torracat, LV 25

What's the best Pokémon to add to my team?

Right now you really need something to counter Water types since they'll hose your Lycanroc and Torracat. The Electric selection is pretty anemic, but Alola Raichu (you'll have to go back to Melemele for Pichu) is pretty solid considering how many water and poison types you'll encounter. Level Pikachu to level 42 for Thunderbolt, evolve into Alola Raichu and it'll learn Psychic immediately. You can also get Mareep from Paniola Ranch, Ampharos is slow but hits hard. Grass is also an option but there's a little too many Water/Poison types running around to make it safe. I liked running Lurantis though, it's pretty fun.

You could also use a pretty solid Water type to prep for the Fire trial. I'm super biased and love Vaporeon, but you have no shortage of Water types. You can grab Marshtomp or Squirtle off Island Scan, fish for a Mareanie, raise Wishiwashi to trigger School form, or grab a Feebas for a nice bulky Milotic. All of those are obtainable by the second island and a good number of them you can find at Brooklet Hill.

Thank you for the advice! I think that I need a bulkier Pokémon so I may go with Vaporeon or Milotic.

I just made it to the third island when I had to stop and plug up my DS. My team currently consists of
Mercy - Fletchinder
Deceit - Malamar
Silent Song - Brionne
Ditzy - Lopunny
Might - Machop
Corrosion - Alolan Grimer
All of which are level 31-32. Machop is not a final member, I’m just leveling it up to where it learns cross chop so I can breed it onto an Electrivire. Other than that, how’s my team sound and what improvements can I make? I considered using Alolan Raichu but went against it because Hau uses one (though the amount of people using Lopunny makes me tempted to drop her from my team >.<)
I haven’t had any issues with trials so far, the water one was the “hardest” just because I barely skirted through with a Pikachu using charm and thundershock

how long did it take you? i'm trying for a wormhole legendary, and i've been soft resetting for a solid day now- i'm well aware it'll take longer. do any of you have an estimate as to how long, though?

I haven't soft-resetted for anything in the newer games, I've only soft resetted in the older games. (1/8192 odds.)

It took me over 10k+ starters seen for my totodile. I failed it, but I recently reclaimed it on SoulSilver!
The reclaim only took me 1,248 resets.

I managed to get my first shiny pokemon ever (without trading someone else for it)!

I decided I wanted a shiny Eevee so I could get my all-time favorite pokemon, a shiny Umbreon.
Since I had an Eevee already, I figured I'd try out the Masuda method... So after obtaining a Ditto from Japan from GTS, I began breeding and I got my shiny at only 8 eggs in!

I've been playing pokemon for years, and I've never gotten my own shiny naturally. So it's a pretty big deal to me.

Do any of you guys remember your first shiny you got on your own without trading for it?

Shiny dedenne in Pokémon X after upwards of 1000 encounters in the friend safari :’) he took a week to get and I was screaming and crying I was so happy lol 2013 was the start of something amazing (I now have almost 100 shinies that I caught and raised myself ^_^)

A Lugia that took 4000...
A (currently ongoing) Poipole that took 2000+...
A Uxie that took 500...
And a Regigigas that took 600...

My luck is god awful but yet I continue to do this
