bts were nominated for the grammys, but thanks to lady gaga and ariana grande, they idn't get it

^ nah i'd say thanks to the recording academy because they choose the winners.


i want to say that every artist has a fair shot of winning, but the grammys is an american award show and obviously america has favorites. can't ignore the fact that bts are minorities here, as are all kpop idols. i feel as if the biggest and most probable reason they didn't win that award (and instead white people did) is the race factor. i mean, they sweep awards within their own country but struggle to get them in predominantly white countries for some reason, right?

i kinda look at this moment to be similar to when parasite won best picture at the oscars. many people were so against it because the oscars are american and parasite isn't an english-speaking movie. the impact it made, though... like bro it really started paving the way for future asian films in the entertainment industry as a whole and that's really awesome! spread the inclusivity through art like wildfire!

i feel like this applies to all kpop groups too, so the fan wars across social media of armys vs. kpoppies is very unnecessary imo. this affected all kpop stans in some way or another whether anyone wants to admit it so PLEASE don't feel like this is the perfect time to start making fun of others. thank you for coming to my ted talk. <3

I bet there are a lot of very gross reasons given on the sheets the judges send in for this. I saw some for the animated category of the Oscars and... yeesh.

literally period. you can't deny that some of 2020's biggest artists worldwide were sooooo snubbed and several fandoms (and just music appreciators in general, too) are most definitely angry about it. i'm glad people like megan thee stallion, taylor swift, billie eilish, and harry styles got grammys because they definitely made a large impact in the music industry last year, but so did bts. that one photo that was circulating army twit of that chart showing musical charting numbers and whatnot literally proves that bts's dynamite surpassed every other song in the category they were nominated for by a long shot. the closest song to dynamite in each category was intentions by jb and quavo, NOT rain on me. i genuinely want to know what made the academy pick rain on me instead of dynamite.

this could've been the biggest win for not only bts (!!!!literally!!!!!) but also kpop as a whole in america really, yet here we are at square one all over again and it's really not cute. <3
