Everything except for the eating meat part can be applied to plenty of herbivores, such as bison, wombats, horses, etc. Your normal diet isn't affected or influenced by your daemon.

EDIT: Okay, bad examples for independence, but prey does not equal a fearful soul in need of big numbers for protection. Just sayin'.

I don't know what animals you're thinking of, but prey species are very much capable of displaying all those traits. The vast majority of the 9000+ bird species we've discovered are at the middle or bottom of the food chain and it's ridonkulous to assume they're all going to be fearful, dependent, and submissive. One of the most fearless people I know is currently looking into mockingbirds, which are capable of being preyed upon by pretty much everyone and their cat (literally). Not just birds, but innumerable mammals, reptiles, etc. are also capable of having very strong personalities that lend to leadership qualities and more solitary, independent habits.

By contrast, plenty of predators such as wild canines (including - gasp! - wolves), social otters, spotted hyenas, etc. are hella dependent, and animals like viverrids and many mustelids would be too secretive, unsociable, conflict-avoidant, and/or self-centered to be effective leaders.

Dietary preferences have nothing to do with personality/settled forms either. :P I don't much care for meat myself but most of my forms end up being carnivorous omnivores for whatever reason.

As a vegetarian trying out an owl form, I will second this. :P I don't know many people who like to eat shrews and insects. I know I sure don't.

Btw, what about how you eat, rather than what you eat (weird eating habits for example)? I'm struggling a little bit with how literal that would be.

Even rodents and other small prey creatures can be pretty brutal. My field is invertebrates, and even though we eat shrimp, I'd still wouldn't want to screw with a Mantis or Pistol Shrimp soul.

On that note I've been wanting to do more invertebrate analysis. Starting with Mantis and Pistol Shrimp.

Thanks so much for the insight @Kuro; I have to admit at first I was a little bummed out about the prey animal suggestion but havin' read on I have to say I honestly never gave them that kindof thought before. Haha. xD I guess they are a little more badarse then we tend to think of them as.

Looking into rats at the moment as an alternative to the Korat cat as rodent's have been suggested as the better fit to felines.

Would anyone be able to point out a few rat species which are semi-social, very laid-back and go with the flow, very calm and not prone to anxiety, can have a few insecurities but hides them at all costs. Quite dominant with own group but very polite with strangers?

I know that's incredibly brief but sociability is what I am focusing on more at this stage of things...

Just wondering in addition to my own research what other opinions I could gain
