It really upsets me that the new verse is so true. Like, the song was so good but then it was treated like some Justin Bieber song and eventually it was unbearable to listen to anymore. But Tyler being Tyler makes it sound so harsh. There goes my good mood- I need some fluffy cats now.

i agree that stressed out is overplayed, but it's still twenty one pilots. when i hear stressed out, i still hear twenty one pilots. if we support them, we should support the whole of them. our boys rose to fame, and even though some people think that means they're slipping further away from us, they're actually staying right where they've always been. they make sure that the 'true fans' know that they see us. take fairly local, for example, when he says, "even if my clique were to pick and the people were to vote, it's the few, the proud, and the emotional," or message man when he says, "these lyrics aren't for everyone, only few understand."
not everyone is capable of appreciating twenty one pilots for what they really are, and even tyler and josh see that. to some people, twenty one pilots will always just be known as that band who sang that really popular song on the radio, but that doesn't mean that that's all they are. so why are we taking it out on the boys that we claim to help us all so much? they aren't the ones who made their song blow up. the new verse is true, sure, but i hope everyone sings along, too. they see us. they'll always see us. so let's support them lovingly and not take our frustrations out on them.
(psa, this was not intended to be angry or offensive or anything. just speakin' my mind. </3)

Ok, I've been meaning to rant about this for awhile so here I go. Also I used to be Skybluedog but now I'm just Sky.
So I feel really bad for Tyler and how just because Stressed Out became popular the clique started to totally hate it, but what is really pissing me off is how many people say they've always loved stressed out and listened to it all the time just because of this whole thing. I mean, yeah I get it some people actually liked stressed out and stuff but I get the feeling they're kind of lying just to look like a better fan. I admit it when somebody says their favourite song is stressed out I'm sceptical, really! But I believe you have to admit and accept these 'flaws' and stuff. So many other people think the same way but now my perspective has changed! The clique really measures if you're a true fan by the songs you know, and that's not just in this fandom it happens a lot in other fandoms too. I've seen people say if you don't know r@b you're a fake fan, like c'mon. Can't we all just say if you like their music you're a fan and forget all of this 'fake fan' garbage. Fake or real in some way they're helping Tyler and Josh and really isn't that what we want as fans? I support them so much and it just pains me to see how much the clique has highlighted Tyler's (possibly Josh's too) insecurities. If I had to classify a fake fan it'd be the people who bash others for liking stressed out or throwing shade on newer members of the clique because if you want to cause so much harm to a fa base you obviously don't appreciate being apart of it, therefore I consider this kind of person a fake fan. So for now let's just appreciate their true and relatable music and both Josh and Tyler.
A few more things before I'm done- First yes they're becoming more "mainstream" but that means more fans to join the clique and just all around support these guys, so is that all that bad? For some yes but for me I like to consider it "The more the merrier". I do though know that some people understand and just "get" Tøp a lot more than others. Some people just like their rhythm and although that doesn't make me overjoyed it doesn't make me that mad. Those people can be those people, and the fans who understand their music can just co-exist. I don't know maybe I'm just being too iffy and trying to be all friendly about this whole thing, but whatever rant over.
Sorry if I offended anyone because I really wasn't trying to. Sometimes I just rant and rant and rant and I speak my true feelings when I get into it and I forget it can hurt people (accepting flaws). So sorry if it hurt you in anyway shape or form. c:

(this was really nice to read, and sort of exactly what i needed? hard to explain but yeah.) i completely agree with you. i've had some bad experiences at every one of their concert's that i've attended -- not because of them, i don't think but more because of the strange attitude a lot of fans are adapting. and i've taken this past year so far to finally get some chill and remember that just because they are important to so many other people (which is a good thing!! helping people is a good thing and what a lot of band's goals are!!) they are still as important to me as well. i think it's just overwhelming sometimes, to realize how many people relate to the same thing as yourself? especially when...well, their lyrics are really personal.
as fans, we only need to support them. and i'm happy they've become so succesful. with everything their music has done for me, i want to share that experience and it makes me sad when the "clique" bashes them for being successful.
with everything they've done for me and my friends, i'll always sing along.

as a longtime fan i feel like the clique is becoming really exclusive and snobby now. it's been mentioned before, but fans from pre-blurryface or pre-stressed out seem a lot more up themselves than the newer fans, and seem to be obsessed with keeping up the image - using the "ø" everywhere, going "sick as hell unlit fren!!11!" at the end of every sentence, using |-/ whenver possible - and it gives our fandom a really bad name. the rumors about the 21p fandom being clique-y, if you'll excuse the pun, are sadly accurate and true, and it's sad to see a fandom that's become almost a family to me degrade other members and therefore itself in the process to a level where it's almost like dealing with high school dramas with seperate little groups with bad attitudes towards each other. we're not a family if we attack our boys - physically, emotionally, on the internet, at concerts etc. - other fans, Jenna/any girl Josh gets near, or we're just as bad as the people we get all riled up to be against. what are we if we're being just as bad as them? we're not a family. we're a clique - and not in the good way. i just wish things could go back to the good old days. maybe stressed out really was foreshadowing what evidently has happened...

I agree that it really is the older fans who are the problem. i mean, i use sick and fren all the time, but i like to think it's because i'm a dork, not because im trying to prove myself as being better than everyone. but, like, online i feel the need to preface any comment about top with 'as a vessel era fan' just so that i don't get attacked by the rabid 'hard clique' types. and i'm really, really tired of hearing everyone talk down blurryface as their worst album, because blurryface is an incredible album. lyrically, the content is amazing, and it sounds much more put together than their previous albums did. honestly, blurryface is so good.
anyways, about the entire changing thing, it makes me so Mad. because the entire song is about ty's insecurities and the hate he got for it made him feel pressured and insecure enough the change the content from being about his insecurities to degrade his own song. a song that, while it isn't my favorite, still has a lot of great lyrical content, is fairly catchy, and helped them become more and more popular. (though, may i say, i wish the one that got popular had been fairly local because that song is my JAM.)

i think that judging by the things everyone is saying on here, the best we can do is have some chill tbh.
all we can do is be what we wish everyone could be in the clique. set an example. when someone is gabbing about stressed out, recommend another twenty one pilots song!! recommend rab, recommend self titled!! show them more!! show them other bands u like!! love them!! make them feel at home. help them understand what twenty one pilots means to you, show them what they could be to them. do this with everything. be loving!! be generous. tell people you like their band tees, don't patronize them for not knowing when josh dun's birthday is, or all the colors he's had his hair, or not knowing what he said in that one interview. i haven't ever expressed these thoughts written out before so i don't know how this sounds, but all i'm really trying to say is that when you see something wrong, do your best to fix it. in this case, it's just having some chill. the homey part of the fandom is much more appealing than the messy side. i wanna go home. does any of this make sense? //endrant
