          Fanfic, huh?
          I. Refuse. To. Write. It. I will not. I don't have a problem reading it, actually. I've seen some very well done ones. But when I write it, I feel like I'm disrespecting the author by 'stealing' his/her works. I won't ever write it, but I can read it, if its well done. :} That's another reason playing Cannon Characters irritates me. What if you play them wrong?

          Anyways, Im almost done with that role play idea I promised! I'm mixing genres and all that, and even including iri's tree thing. And no. It's not like James Cameron's Avatar at all. Black magic, kidnappings, highly-trained mutants, foreign planets, gigantic trees, human enemies, and a whole bunch of stuff.

          Which reminds me; how many spots do you guys think a role play should have, on average? I'm thinking six in general ... I dunno.

      @city; I like to have around 8 people, 4 for each gender. I don't know why, I think 6 works quite well too.

      Side note -- I really should finish my first post for this roleplay, ahh xD

I give up on group rps -.- I'm only making few exceptions. Small private groups of 2-4 people are normally what I do, if it's not a 1x1

as for fanfics, never read or written one ono not a huge fan of canon characters :P

I just want a role play that lasts more than a few pages, and moves faster than a post once a month. But group role plays never last, and I seem to drive away all my 1x1 partners with my first post. XP

          Lol. Pie. :}

          Glitter; I agree. My issue is that people aren't loyal. You join a role play, and if you don't post, more than three times, you're inactive, and I want to kick you out. [yes, I know. Your role play post is done. I'm just doing my weird thing where I don't post until I have all of them done. :\] But what really gets to me is when I see them posting great replies for role plays other than mine, because they lost their muse and forgot to mention it to me. I'm just ... Angry with that. I really just want a role play that stays active. Because I know we all have lives. DON'T. JOIN. UNLESS. YOU. HAVE. THE. TIME. this just irritates me to no end. You either join because you're bored and then you forget that you really don't like the plot. I swear to god that I'm going to just ... Start making you fill out a form to accept you or not. -_-

It takes a lot of work to find lyal role-players, but its possible. I have a few that have been going for a few months- we just make sure to plan things to keep each other interested [this seems to help a lot] and stay in touch in between posts so we don't think the other has abandoned.

          Human-like creatures called the Regulites dweled within a secluded forest on a far away planet called Terrene, once at peace with their surroundings and all other creatures. There was a young individual, full of mischief and curiosity, that liked to play with magic. The Young One -- as he was called -- didn't know that what he was doing was wrong. It was dangerous, but still, he thought it was fun. The Young one experimented with all kinds of magic, dark and light, but every time, the more sinister of the two called to him. Once, The Young One decided that it was time for him to do something huge; something so big, his and his world would never be the same. Deviants is what they were named by the Regulites. And for a proper reason.

          The Young One, played with a dark, long-forgotten spell. Stygian Craft, as it was once called by their ancestors. A spell of Ebony. One that brought disaster. As mentioned before, the Young One didn't know boundaries. He didn't know that the spell would work, if performed right. And so came a portal. Seemingly to somewhere that his world would call a 'hell' on their small and luscious planet. The Regulite people panicked, as soon as the Deviants began pouring in, with their high-tech monstrosities, and their death-shooters, that killed most of the Terenic population instantly. The Deviants didn't like threats. They didn't like the possibility of the Regulites being alive, and possibly attacking them. The Deviants were scared. And acted wrongly. The Deviants thought that they had killed each and every one of the Regulites. But what they didn't realize is that the Young One hid three. After knowing it was too late to salvage their race, in his final act, the Young One took three adolescent Regulites, and hiding them in a protective casing. There they lay for a hundred years, not needing to eat, nor breathe for that matter. It was if they were frozen in time. When they awoke, they wouldn't know where they were, but they would know that they were in the hands of the Deviants, and their Genetic Experiments. There was something going on with the Deviant's world. Something that they needed help with.

          The Deviants were on the verge of something called a 'war'. There was a new cult forming, that called themselves "The Domain". The Domain was a rising nation, that had ties with powerful countries, like The United States of America, Russia, China, France, The United Kingdom, Japan, India, Germany, Pakistan, and Brazil. Some of the most powerful countries in the world. And they're sick of the way the world is being run. And they want to conquer, and control it all. Their leader, a man who goes by Dr. X, is unknown to the world. His face has never been shown. Nobody can tell who he is. Dr. X is brilliant, and one of the greatest masterminds of the Twenty-Third Century. Dr. X puts Joseph Stalin, Adolf Hitler, or even Mao Zedong to shame. Anyone that crosses him is never heard from again. There is some hope against Dr. X's rule; the Adgies. The Adgies are a society that works under Dr. X's wing, going under the pretenses that they're assisting him in creating a more powerful human being. And their tests are failing.

          But that's the lie.

          The Head of the Adgies is the leading scientist, Ms. Angela Jones, a kind-souled woman who knows how to pack a punch, and get her work done. She specializes in genetic engineering, and created three/four adolescents; the Anarchs. They, and the Regulites are the final hope against Dr. X's legion. The only problem? Nobody crosses him, and leaves his sight.

          Not unless they come back in pieces.

          So, this role play is about six to eight [depending on interest] adolescents who are under Ms. Jones' care, fresh out of the secret training and all that, to go on missions in pairs or trios [depending on who I can get] to find things like Dr. X's nuclear supply, and blow it up/drop it in the Mariana Trench, or his hand-holds in places like Russia and the USA. This would also be about the Regulites trying to remember what happened to them, because before The Young One wrapped them in that cocoon, he wiped their memories. So .. I'm making this no matter what, but I want to give club members first tabs. I will only reserve your spot for two days. Everybody else doesn't even get a reserve, so be happy, please! :}

Typical Aquarius wrote:You have to remember, though, Harle, that some people type the way they speak. Though it may not be correct, users often roleplay using their regional dialect.

I often say "I've gotta go," even though that may not be the correct usage. It comes down to using slang, and writing naturally, or being perfect with your grammar and sounding stuffy.

That does not bother me. It is the flat out grammar mistakes that are due to a lack of knowledge of the mechanics of the language, not dialects. I sometimes use 'gotta' and 'wanna' when I am feeling lazy or just simplistic. Dialect differences are actually pretty charming, in many cases. I am stuffy and boring, so I do attempt to insert such mannerisms into posts when I remember to. Otherwise, I tend to scare people off. Characters, of course, will have any number of mannerisms and dialects, and they are expected to speak accordingly.

However, things like effect vs. affect, it's vs. its, and they're vs. their vs. there are not dialect differences. Those are outright grammar mistakes. They sound the same (with the possible exception of effect vs. affect, depending on dialect), so there is no reason to put the incorrect one so as to not be stuffy.

As I made mention, I am not going to nit-pick every little thing in a roleplay. For the most part, as long as I can clearly understand my partner without radars going off all over the place, I am alright. I just wanted to start a conversation to see what types of mistakes bothered people. I am not calling anyone out or making fun of anyone. I am merely conversing.
