with fnaf6 i thought i should probably wander through here!
hm, one wishes we had a proper spoilers tag, you know?
anyway, i'm still collecting my full thoughts on it - at which point i may be roping a friend into doing a video talking about some of the ideas. probably won't be able to link it here as we're likely gonna cuss about it, but it may happen nonetheless. mostly out of a burning desire to run circles around MatPat because i find his theories, honestly, fairly weak at best? MEET ME IN THE ENGLISH MAJOR PET FOR AN ANALYSIS DUEL, YOU KNAVE

personally i will say i was very satisfied with the ending.
though there is still an essay from me coming at some point for - teeny spoilery bits-ish, so sorry for making you copy-paste -
the marionette as secondary player avatar. both because like the marionette, the player character never really gets to intervene with all these tragedies, we just get to see them and 'carry them in our arms' from game to game as we complete the picture through learning more lore. i think you could potentially also talk a lot about how the guy on the tape is sort of an avatar for scott, as well, with how he talks to the marionette like how scott might want to talk to his players. in other words, maybe that interaction is scott cawthon saying 'it's done, it's really over. i appreciate so much all of you being here, but it's time to let go and move on to other projects - and to keep this healthy interest healthy, and not let it dip into obsessive.'and of course that's about the part of the essay where i start connecting it to one of the morals of Undertale and the Fallout New Vegas dlc Old World Blues - "They stare into the what-was, eyes like pilot lights, guttering and spent, as the realities of their world continue on around them"...
but! we'll see if my health holds enough to essay write lmao
edit - this is aside from the other essay topic i have in mind, which concerns
the blueprints and information garnered from the egg baby in the 'insanity ending'. i think if i get those screenshotted or better yet datamined so i can view them in large size, i can chew on them and connect them to the first game. remember the garble in the phone call of night 5 in fnaf 1? that is actually - recorded, modulated down, and played back backwards - excerpts from a book called 'Autobiography of a Yogi' by Paramhansa Yogananda. this has been known for some time - this is where the phrase 'the joy of creation' comes from. part of the garble is a quote about that, but the other appears to be from another part of the book, wherein Yogananda is talking with a scientist about his experiments to PROVE THAT METAL IS ALIVE - and not only do they show the metal being ALIVE, but SUFFERING AND DYING. it's surprisingly grim stuff, if you empathize with a bit of tin. anyway, i made much at the time about how this excerpt talks about how metal objects need rest, lest they get stressed and die. with the information from the egg baby archives, i think we finally have something about HOW these bits of metal - the animatronics - became alive. i need to see more of the book referenced in the first game to figure out if the tape man is right and that fire really does 'release metal spirits' by this method or not - or, if in the words of circus baby about the purple man, 'it just won't die'... i also quite would like to tie my original thoughts about the song freddy sings you in FNAF 1 (when he's about to kill you because your power went out) to the new game. unfortunately we don't have much in the way of pre-existing music in FNAF 6, but perhaps we do have some theme to be tied in. (the song that freddy 'sings', by the way, is called Toreador. it's a song from the opera Carmen that's... all about how being a bullfighter kinda sucks, but everyone's cheering for you and you're getting all the attention and being heroic, and that's maybe kinda worth it. i always thought that was supremely cheeky of freddy to do that to you. 'good try, you knew you were going to go out like this weren't you? i mean the song says in it how often bullfighters die... but hey, you got some attention. don't you like the attention i'm giving you? ehhhhh?? WINK???' oh, freddy...)needless to say if either of these ideas interest y'all, but you're looking at them going 'what fresh heck i absolutely cannot follow this', i will be happy to explain more! goodness knows i can barely keep up with MYSELF here. but English majors gotta English major.
as long as i'm here, may as well post the bit of fanart i did on the oekaki as well
