Grammar:
It's vs. Its; This certainly bothers me, but I don't mind the occasional mistake with this, I just have to reread the sentence a few times to get what they mean, and that wastes my time.
They're vs. there vs. their; This is probably the only grammar mistake that actually irritates me! This EVERYONE should know, even if you never went to school (actually in Australia, well where I went to school, you learnt this when you were five years old...If a five year old can do it, why can't everyone else?-.-) this should be learnt just by being around others.
Another one which hasn't been mentioned yet; When people write 'right' instead of 'write' or even 'white' that is a really irritating mistake.
For spelling mistakes:
Affect vs Effect; Really doesn't bother me, in fact, I usually get confused with this.
I have mild dyslexia so it is extremely difficult to tell the two apart.
So since I struggle with that myself, I don't care if someone gets it wrong.(I can't tell if they have or not anyway.XD)
So I'm more lenient with that sort of thing, as I completely understand that some people can't help it because of medically diagnosed difficulties.
I do tend to get a little annoyed when people spell 'ph' words wrong.
Like instead of 'phantoms' some people write 'fantoms' or something like that.
'Faroh' or something along those lines, instead of 'pharaoh'.
'feasant' instead of 'pheasant'.
'few' instead of 'phew'.
'fone' instead of 'phone'.
I can't be bothered listing more words, but you get the idea.
I don't mind a few mistakes, we're only human after all, but continuous mistakes every post/reply; does get annoying after a while.
Although I understand if people are posting with their phone.
There are bounds to be plenty of mistakes with a phone post, particularly if you have a bad phone.
One thing that's different, but related to this; I hate how when I spell something the Aussie way, people (usually Americans) say it's spelt wrong. When I know it's the absolute correct spelling for over here. I'm not about to write the way they do just because they think they're right.
When I get told off for this; it really ticks me off.
I agree with Aqua(I can call you that right?); some characters actually talk/think like that, it's just how people are, so in a way, depending on the character, saying 'I have got to go' (and similar things) could be the accurate thing to say for that character.
So you do have to take in how that character actually is, before deciding they've done something wrong.
I think I may have written a little too much.XD
EDIT: Whoops, stupid me, I put 'affect vs. effect' in the wrong spot... I fail.
It's fixed now.:3
