anyone else read anything good lately?

Will do! :>

I read Vicious by V.E Schwab this weekend, it was pretty good. I actually read the whole thing in about four hours because the writing flowed soooo well and the book was almost cinematic? Like, the writing style + the action + the way it was written in switching timelines made me feel like I was watching a movie. I haven't liked V.E Schwab's writing in the past but I enjoyed it a lot in this book.

I also finished The Silence of the Girls by Pat Barker and it was meh. The first 30%-ish was good, and then it started focusing on characters I hated and I was just rolling my eyes. For a book that promised to focus on women it sure spent a lot of time on Achilles x_x

Last night I started Promise of Blood by Brian McClellan. I'm only 50 pages in but I'm going to make a bold prediction and say this is going to be a 5 star read for me. Its goooooood so far.

omg, i know exaaaactly what you mean about books flowing and being cinematic. the best example of that for me was the song of achilles by madeline miller. it flows so well and every time i start it i can't put it down until i'm done. a couple years ago i went on a cruise and i was sick one day so i sat in bed and re-read tsoa twice :p it never gets old!!

i will have to look into it! what is promise of blood about?

Ahhhh I love Song of Achilles so much ;_; Have you read her newer book Circe? I loved it even more than SoA, its one of my favorite books of all time.

Promise of Blood is the first in a fantasy series!! From what I'm gathering its about the aftermath of a coup staged on the government and how various characters deal with it. The magic system is pretty cool because it combines typical fantasy swords n stuff with guns and magic. It has pretty morally grey characters and political intrigue so I'm digging it so far lol

Oooo. A forum about books! Just my thing. c: Hello everyone. ^^

I want to join the book club!
Username: louise.
Pronouns: she/her
Your favorite book and/or author: The Book of Dust written by Philip Pullman!
Why is this your favorite?: The writing is advanced and beautiful, yet easy to understand. Philip does an amazing job at world building, and it was easy to care about the characters, I think.
What genres do you like? I enjoy fantasy and young adult the most.
Fun fact about you: Hm, I'm not that interesting. I don't know what to tell you, hah.
Anything else?: Thanks for reading. c:

Greetings! I'm Louise.

Thank you for visiting my profile! How are you doing, friend?

I'm a pretty laid-back person, I would say! Don't be afraid to PM me, I'd love to chat for a little while.
Trade offers are super duper welcome too, however, if I don't respond right away,
it might be because I'm either playing Stardew Valley or reading a book LOL.
I'll do my best to get back to you as quickly as possible.

hello! i'd like to join the book club very much
Username: chaoticryptid
Pronouns: she/her, please
Your favorite book and/or author: i love so many... if i had to choose one book, at the moment, it would be a winter's promise by christelle dabos which is a sort of obscure translation of a french fantasy book. some authors that i love are holly black, neil gaiman, and v.e. schwab, among others
Why is this your favorite?: i love love love love the world building and the main character is altogether too relatable and the writing style is gorgeous, with an old-fashioned sensibility. also the ship in it is extremely slowburning which is excruciating but completely worth it
What genres do you like? fantasy, mainly. also historical fantasy
Fun fact about you: i couldnt decide on one so here are a few: i speak greek, my favorite color is green, and also i write
Anything else?: not really, i'm mainly just here to make friends!
