I used to animate in 24 Frames per Second all the time, but I switched to a lower frame rate since my hands were still shaky. Over time, my steadiness improved, so I'm getting back into 24 FPS. (vector only. Pixel would take all year O_O)
People believe that more FPS = Smoother. This isn't always true. If you don't have the skill or don't take the time to make each frame identical enough so things don't go flying, it won't be smooth. There's something called a "line test." where you draw 10 vertical lines super fast in a drawing program and see how straight they are.
Not Straight AT ALL- 6 FPS
Kinda- 10-12 FPS
Sort of- 18 FPS
Close to Perfect - 24 FPS
Using a computer/puppet - 60 FPS (video games and stuff are 120 XD)
