what do you really think of pregnancy roleplays?

They really, really disturb me. Like seriously. They creep me out, why would you want to roleplay as someone pregnant? What happens when your character gives birth? Are you out? Many roleplayers on this site are kids, they shouldn't have to see these roleplays. They creep me out. Especially the teen pregnancy ones.

I feel pretty lukewarm concerning pregnancy RPs. People can RP what they want to RP [as long as they follow the site rules, of course]. Most of the time, though, it obviously shows that the roleplayer is young and inexperienced. The girls that get pregnant in these RPs are all teenagers. And yet, they instantly know what to do, have all of the necessary things needed to get through a pregnancy, are emotionally stable even after the revelation [even if they weren't planning on having a baby/found the idea unappealing before the pregnancy], e.t.c...

How would they sustain themselves and their child, especially if their partner bails on them? And especially if their parents stop supporting them [this happens a lot]. One teenager [or two, if the partner stays] with no job won't be able to support a child in any way. Heck, even if they have a job they'd still have to find an apartment [if their parents kick them out, which happens a lot too] and pay rent, amongst other things. Plus, they are not mentally prepared to care for a child, and usually their pregnancy is the byproduct of a careless night at a party.

It's kind of funny when they instantly discover that they are pregnant the day after the party, tho, lmao.

They disturb me. It is one thing to have pregnancy as part of a storyline, but to have an RP based around [usually teens] getting pregnant? Pregnancy in RPs is not bad in and of itself, but to throw random teen pregnancies in just for the sake of drama is disturbing. I think it glamourizes teen pregnancy, which is a terrible trend.

Look, I have an email 1x1 in which a couple are going to have a child, but it is a natural (well, natural considering they are non-human) sort of thing. They are planning for the child's future, working to save the child (the father is a vampire, the mother is a dhampire, and pretty much all the rest of the vampires want the entire family dead), and fighting for a life for their unborn child. When the child is born, she will just become another character in the RP, not a throw away. Heck, it did not start out with the intent of there being a pregnancy, but those sort of things happen when couples are together for a long time. xD

So basically, pregnancy as a natural course of the storyline is not a problem, but to glamourize teen pregnancy and single parents is. I don't care if the characters are wed, straight, homosexual, whatever. However, children do need two parents, and single parenthood is extremely hard unless said person happens to be rich. Even then, it is easier with two parents.

I have to throw in my bit for the teen pregnancy roleplays.
For the most part, I actually like the idea. I havent been able to find a decent one that is semi- lit, or realistic though.

A while back, I started a 1x1 with a girl, and we did that a little differently. It was an LGBT teen pregnancy. Basically, the girl had dumped her boyfriend and gotten with a girl, then a couple months later she realized she was pregnant, and had to tell her girlfriend. The other way the boy had dumped his girlfriend a couple months back, and she turned up pregnant, claiming it was his.

If it's done tastefully, and not "OMGZ, I'm pregnant, I"m so happy even though my parents are going to disown me!" I really don't think there is anything wrong with it. As someone mentioned, though, it is most younger teens who do these, and all od a sudden their character is pregnant and has all the money to take care of a child, and everyone is happy. My characters are always living on their own and sustaining their own lifestyle, as well as going to school.

Even though it may seem like a sticky topic for a child- friendly site, in all honesty, it is reality. Girls get pregnant at a young age all the time. [censored] happens, to put it bluntly. If parents don't want their children exposed to that kind of thing, they can make sure their children don't have access to CS, and they might as well turn off the tv as well, cause there is much worse stuff out there than just teen pregnancy.

i have nothing against the pregnancy roleplays on here. [though i don't really like the oned ones] though i don't think it's exactly right for it to make it seem as if it's a good thing having a baby when you're sixteen; it does happen. there have been cases of four year olds having babies. it's not something good but it's there and you can't just ignore it. it's not going to go away. people do careless things and you have to face the consequences, making something good out of it is the best thing to do.

and you're not able to stop the non-realism of these roleplays. they're young people roleplaying older ones going through an experience i hope none of them have to go through. they'll learn when they get to a certain age the truths about teen pregnancy and that it's not exactly something a lot of people can handle. whilst this is a child friendly site, it's not as if they roleplay out the birth scene or what 'made' the baby. they're just unrealistic roleplays about mansions and soppy teen love.

the mature forums ;; i'd really like a forum where there weren't restrictions as tight as cs because it means you'd be able to put more depth in etc. i dont' want an xxx roleplay or anything, it would just be nice to have a roleplay that actually encompassed real life and it's difficulites etc. there was a roleplay [clowesia was in it...i don't know if some of you were?] a while back called real life which was based on a group of adults. i applied when a spot opened but i was really illiterate back then and didn't get it. i'd really like something like that but on a site where there weren't restrictions on what your character can say, think, do and have done. and i know two of you advertised one but the pink one [the one with the pink background] didn't really have anything that interested me and i wasn't sure how to join the indigo one or if there was anything on there.
