I won't say SAO is bad because I didn't get very far into the first episode to even tell if it was good or bad.
The beginning was just really slowly too me?
I dunno?
Something about it didn't make me want to stay and watch.
But that's just me
You aren't alone. If I remember correctly I think Igot onto like the 10th episode before dropping? It wasn't that the beginning was slow, its something else for sure i just dont remember

I thought it was good.
i was only able to read up to the tenth-maybe eleventh, volume
since my library only has volumes 1-9
I read the next few chapters online
I personally loved the series and am going to continue reading it later
Thanks for reminding me about it,
I completely forgot about the series Q-Q

I read most of it, then decided to stop and read from the beginning because the first time I read it, it was in school, on my phone, with many pages not loading, and I was quite distracted reading the story so >.<
I'm still in progress of catching up to where I stopped, but I absolutely love the manga and characters.

ahh, SAO
i have a soft spot for it, i won't lie, because it was my first anime and i got v. v. into it at the time, but it's got a ton of issues
its storyline is pretty meh and the pacing is v. problematic especially in the first half of the first season
(and season two is good, but the love triangle is weird)
i like the characters and story myself but i can totally get why people don't like it, it's probably overrated
imo SAO is a decent first anime, because it's easy to follow and a lot of its plot is familiar and pretty westernised, but if you're already into anime it's probably not worth finishing tbh

Honestly, I quite like SAO. I'm not really one to read deep into plotline, character development, psychological issues or whatever else unless the anime is set up in a way that forces me to pay attention to that. Maybe I'm just a simple person, but I like the action, I like the effects, I liked the concept, didn't mind the characters, and didn't really even notice plot issues. XD Maybe it's not my top favorite anime, but it's definitely one I enjoyed watching and even rewatching. ^^
(Of course it also dear to me because it's what got me interested in playing MMOs, but that's another matter altogether.)
