Can I post about this? i dont even know but / a friend of mine was recently hospitalised and they're in far too much pain to move far so I looked into a way of playing this game without actually moving just as a temporary solution until they can go out and about again.

So I found one of those tweaked apps and I've been playing around with it for a couple of hours just out of curiousity. I made a new account in the tweaked app (since I'm leaving my own personal account for real play) and, to my surprise, I'm apparently halfway across the world from where I actually am haha. So I have no idea where I'm going but i'm enjoying it. Apparently it fixes itself but so far I'm just wandering around the streets of San Francisco from my bed in the UK.

Note: If you're curious about the tweaked apps that are out there - I seriously don't recommend using them, it takes so much of the fun away and obviously comes with risks so unless you're bedridden like my friend is or you've run out of internet data on your phone / don't have a data plan I definitely recommend sticking to normal play.

I was texting my friends when she texted "Macbook" instead of "Magikarp" bc of autocorrect so now it's a thing to call Magikarps "Macbook" XD

Just got back from an amazing day of hunting!! We went to a monument that TONS of people go to. The pike stops are literally always lured and the one gym by it is constantly going between the teams!!! I caught so many good Pokemon including ones that I needed to evolve!!
I got a tentacruel over 1,000, a kadabra, two magmars, tons of staryus and voltorbs and magikarps. Though a stupid hitmonchan ran away from me!

Recently I hatched a Pinsir and got ~30 candies.
Is that normal or not?

@Alantica Yeah it's normal. When you hatch an egg you also get candies of that Pokemon, the number you get is dependent on how strong the Pokemon is. If I remember correctly. 30 is really great!

All I have hatched today is a weedle rip me.

So I figured I'd finally join. I don't play a lot, only about 1-2 hours a day (if lucky, more), so I'm only just below level 10. Don't have a lot of good pokemon in my area yet, but they are starting to show up, but I did catch a bulbasaur today plus hatched an Aerodactyl. He so far is my best pokemon with a CP of 344.
Which brings me to this question, how am I suppose to train in gyms when the pokemon in them are way to high of a CP level for me to even make a dent.

Leveling up Pokemon is different in the app, you don't power them up by battling. Instead you go onto the Pokemon's page and right above the evolve button is the power up button. You need stardust and candies of that pokemon to level them up though. So don't worry, even if you can't fight the pokemon in the gyms you can still power up your pokemon and get stronger. ^_^
