Hello! I’m currently propagating some succulent leaves/cutting I got from a friend. Unfortunately, she did not know what kind of plants they were. I was hoping you guys could help (some plants have multiple pictures)

Does anybody remember their first plant?
Mine was a sensitive plant I started from seed and I've been hooked ever since, it actually finished its life span this year and bloomed a ton of cool flowers.

Welcome! Ferns are pretty rad.
Yes, my first plant was a succulent but I was very inexperienced and did not know much about it, and that led to some unfortunate events. I took a pause in growing plants but recently started again!

Hmm, I am unsure but I did some research and the closest result I got is a Echeveria x imbricata. I am not completely certain!

Happy Earth day everyone!

I recently got some new plants lately! I went to a small farmer's market near Ikea and they had plants there! The first one is a string of pearls, and the second is a Elephant Bush, or a "Portulacaria afra".
Both have been re-potted into a bit bigger terracotta pots, and I hope they grow well!

@galaxymouse sorry for the late reply! for sure! i spray a few of my plants and it seems to help (it depends on the plant, some dont like being sprayed - you can look up online which ones prefer it and which dont!) & happy earth day (though im a day late haha)! I love string of pearls, ive got one too though mine is just a little baby, & wow! ive never heard of elephant's bush before, it looks so pretty, I'd love if you could share a picture of yours!

@•Pony• i wish i could help but im pretty useless with identification - hopefully someone else can help out a little more but im pretty sure the first two are echeverias, though i cannot be certain!

@Indigodreams welcome!! i love ferns too, especially birds nest ferns! sadly i dont quite remember my first plant due to having poor memory, but i imagine it was probably a cactus!! aw, congrats on getting your sensitive plant to bloom!

@lesbian There's a lovely plant store near me that has a nice assortment of birds nest ferns! I personally like the rabbit's foot fern, I've had one for quite a while now.

@galaxymouse happy late earth day! i feel bad because i kind of forgot about earth day until it was almost over.

so my friend got me a euphorbia lactea cristata (i think its commonly known as a coral cactus?) as a present and its such a strange plant! it looks so odd but its slowly becoming one of my favourites. i only have basic care knowledge for it though, does anyone have any tips?

@luminescent. haha if its reassuring at all, i also completely missed earth day too... wow! i think I've seen that plant before but never heard their name, they look so alien haha, i wish i had care advice, i hope someone else can help you out!

my dad got a bunch of bonsai trees from my grandpa in the last week, and one of them had a baby so i guess im a dad to a bonsai now... he's so cute!

@lesbian: Hehe, looks like your little friend approves! I tried growing a bonsai japanese maple from a sprout that i found nearby the main tree, things were going pretty well for a year or two, but then we had a super harsh winter and it failed to make it through that. :c I've been thinking of trying again since we tend to find at least several new seeds sprouting up each year.


The veg garden is really going well so far, the only real photo worthy thing at the moment though are the chives that have started blooming, they are a lot more pink than my camera shows them to be! I actually hate the taste of anything onion-ish, to be honest, i bought them for the bees to enjoy more than anything.

Cool! I'm glad I got to introduce you to a new type of plant! Anyways, since you have a string of pearls too, do you have any advice on caring for one, as I am pretty new to taking care of this type of plant. Anything would be appreciated! I did it again oops

I don't have any big plant stores around me (Other than Home Depo but-) Anyways, I'm glad you have access to a good fern store!

Thanks, even though I am late at replying! I also didn't even know it was Earth day until everyone told me. I looked up Coral Cactus and it is a super funky little cactus! Sadly, I do not have any tips as I don't own one, but if you do research maybe you will find some.

Other than that, I moved my string of pearls and jade plant to a more sunnier spot, a windowsill. It wasn't doing so good in my room with my window blinds on my table.. I am looking forward to see them perking up again!
