I waited for a time when my cat was calm, and mentally asked her to meow if she was my familiar. My cat never meows when she is calm and not being touched. She meowed, but it was a meow I had never heard before. Now, I recognize that meow as the one she uses only for magick related purposes. She always gives me that meow when I finish a ritual or a prayer. She knows far more than I do. 3;>

I'm not a Wiccan, and I'm sorry if this is seen as spamming, but I'm very interested in your religion. Would you guys mind explaining it to me?

I don't consider it spammy. I identify as Pagan, but with a lot of Wiccan influence, so I should be able to help you with any questions you have. Do you have anything specific you'd like to know?

Well I'm interested in knowing more about these "familiars" you have. What are they, and how do you find your own?

A familiar is an animal or spirit that is interested in a person's rituals or spellwork. I don't have a familiar, so I don't know exactly how a physical familiar would help you with those things. Not everyone has a familiar -- like me -- and they aren't nessecary to be Wiccan or even practice witchcraft.

Like I said earlier, I think a familiar pretty much finds you. You can send calls of energy to them. Some people, such as the others in this thread, were lucky enough to already have familiars with them when they began their practice.

Oh wow, this is for sure enlightening. Do you think I might have had one? Because you there was once this reserve closeby my old home, and I would usually go there now and then to see the animals [since I have always loved them and whatnot] but I almost formed a kind of bond with one creature. An arctic fox called Winter. Everytime I would come to his habitat he would rush to see me, and I always felt the desire to be with him. Like an energy almost, it was once so strong that I visited the reserve twelve times in two months. He would always look at me with intelligence like he wanted to say something to me.

I've always remembered him for that. Do you think he was my familiar? [Not saying I believe in familiars, but I'm not throwing the idea out.]

It's possible. Like I said, I've never had a familiar myself so I wouldn't exactly know what it would be like to find your familiar. The way you described it sounds like it could've been a familiar. I would count it more likely if you were connected to "supernatural" things or if you had abnormal abilities if you're not practicing or performing any sort of ritual regularly.

That absolutely sounds like a familiar to me, as it it pretty similar to my own familiars connection to me. It is my personal belief that when your familiar dies, it will find you again in a new body. If I were you, I'd keep yours eyes open.

Okay. I'm like recently Pagan, And I see all these spells and they say "cast a circle" or "draw your athame". I want to know, How to get stuff for a circle. And another question is, How do you meditate? I tried it once and asked who was my patron and I heard the word Hecate and I asked my patron animal and the word I heard was Deer. Would this be true? I don't know if I actually meditated or not? How do you actually meditate?
