Firstly, each character is a huge stereotype of a country. While some might be funny to watch, some people forget that these countries do not represent all of the people in them. Plus, turning a whole country into a whole stereotype isn't very good, is it?
Secondly, my main problem with this anime/manga is how they portrayed WW1 + WW2. These are tragic, disgusting events in human history, and should surely not be shown with cutesy anime figures, right? I know some people who loved Japan so much in Hetalia that they believe that Japan should have won WW2. Does anyone actually remember the heinous crimes Japan committed? Germany? Anyone?
Plus the fandom drives me crazy. Sorry, I know everyone on here is cool, but it's just the incredibly vocal ones who rub me up the wrong way. >_> I mean, some cosplayers have dressed up as Germany in full SS uniform. Does nobody think that's just a little bit wrong?

From what ive seen/ remember of hetalia the characters were stereotyped enough where no one can take it seriously, but you know that there will be that one kid.

I think the fandom ruined hetalia for me, I too hate the hardcore fans. They all seem to be legit weeaboos too- sprouting their poison all over chats and threads :: "kawaii desu nee!!! ive watched so many animeeeeeeees I cant even count them all o.o ....... Omg blackbulter and and and free are teh best animes ever!! EREN x LEVI!!!!! ALSO AMERICA AND CANADA"
