A good manga that is not overly drenched in Japanese culture is Boku no hero academia, as it takes a lot of inspiration from American comics, and is very easy to get in to!

Ahh. Has anyone else watched Polar Bear Cafe / Shirokuma Cafe? It's beyond adorable and hilarious!

I'm kind of going back and forth on anime right now lol. Usually I only watch one at a time, but at the moment I'm switching between Polar Bear Cafe, Mawaru Penguindom, and Assassination Classroom (season 2). I also want to start watching the second season of Tokyo Ghoul. Too much anime, what do I do?!?!

I won't have too much time to spend once school starts again and I'm not too interested in watching anything that is too long right now. Some other anime I like include Angel Beats, Gurren Lagann, Your Lie in April, Death Note, The Seven Deadly Sins, and Code Geass.

Since you seem to be a shonen fan maybe try:
Witch Hunter - It's a pretty basic shonen but the MC is interesting and there are some really good characters, I also like the design a lot!
D. Grey Man** - All time fave but I may be blinded by nostalgia- good characters, good fighting, good character development.

i’m watching yugioh vrains and neon genesis evangelion!
i like to focus on one at a time but sometimes it gets sorta difficult to do that... ha.

i'm also switching and watching multiple anime at once, which is something i normally don't do.
i'm watching akame ga kill, black clover, food wars, parasyte, magi, durarara, and blast of tempest.
i need to chill out. i'm beginning to mix up all the plots and characters, and it's getting really confusing, lmao

also lookism-type webtoons is great too c: though i doubt anything can relate to lookism... it's unique (confused if it's horror or not, sometimes the art is freaking scary)
