well, i cosplayed Isabelle Lightwood when I was 12. it didn't go well. I'm going to cosplay X-23 this year; I've made a set of claws. It's not terribly impressive. As soon as I have money to buy the stuff I need I'm going to cosplay Fem!Winter Soldier because have you seen that metal arm it's cool. which means unfortunately i need craft foam, silver spray paint, duct tape, plastic bags, sharpie, red spray paint, glue gun etc. none of which I have. my Aelin Galathynius cosplay was not bad, the papier-mache sword came out better than I expected, as did the Amulet of Orynth. (I'm scared that i'll screw up the metal arm though)

Ooh, I'm doing Fem!Loki next year, with my sister as fem!Thor and my dad as Odin. I'm really nervous about the sceptre tbh, and I totally feel you on the "I need x tools but don't have them" part. Unfortunately, sometimes, cosplay is expensive ;n; the sooner I get a job the better haha

Speaking of expensive! How do you guys budget for cosplays and cons?

Cosplay can be hella expensive
I want to do Evie's Cotillion dress from the latest descendants film
Found fabric for it that's almost perfect
but it's sooo expensive

Honestly fabric is the WORST to pay for

Idk how many of you play Dark Souls III but one of the bosses, Aldrich, has a really cool design and I'd love to cosplay him/her/them/it 😂 But the FABRIC would be insane.

I'm gonna do evie's cotillion dress. the rest of the fabric should be pretty cheap but the organza overlay is gonna be hella expensive and I still would have to dye it a little and add all the sparkle

trying to figure out what wire would be best to hold up a cape's shape (Ghirahim's to be exact)

I'm probably best off using a mixture of foam and floral wire..

Also, trying to make something look almost translucent using a shading and highlighting technique because you don't have resin is a pain in the butt. (Ghirahim's diamond on his belt...)
Sup, Im a huge nerd! Im pansexual and I am very artsy too! I have a deviantart, PM me for details!

Evie why do you have to be so extra
at least I know everything is sequin strips now which should make my life a whole lot easier, and Eevee is mostly cut, I just need to cut the skirt before sewing everything.

What do you all do when it's hot as hell and the character you're cosplaying wears a lot of layers?

try and find a place you can strip off a couple of them for a while - I had this problem with evie, as she's basically covered head to toe, and in warm fabrics like leather and velvet.
