I can't tell if I'm a Furry or a Therian! I hope I'm a furry, but it seems unlikely....

I believe you can be both! At least I'm both, anyways. :3
If you have an interest in anthropomorphic animals, or the fandom itself, you can be considered a furry. On the other hand, Therians are people who have special connections with certain animals, and they can have just one Theriotype or several.

You choose whether you're furry or not. Furries like anthropomorphic animals, often love art and characters, and sometimes like to dress up like their favorite characters.

Therians or Otherkin, however, can be pretty tricky! Most either believe they were a certain animal in a past life, or have a part of that animal's soul within them. You can have more than one theriotype or kintype, and it's a bit more complex than being a furry! And much, much more spiritual. Furries are also a fandom where Otherkin are more of a community?

They're both identities, but one is based off what you like, and the other is based off who you are.

I've been in the fandom for about 3 years! I found out through a friend that you could make a character based off of yourself as a form of expression and/or to roleplay with, and I later learned this was called a fursona. I learned about fursuits and the whole of the furry community, and I've just been a part of it ever since!

I assume you mean Dutch Angel Dragons, and I think they're alright. They seem to be mostly popular with minors, but both Telephone(Ino) and Sniper(TwilightSaint) are very lovely people from what i've seen of them at cons, and their suits are gorgeous and very well taken care of. I was sitting behind Sniper at Floor Wars at MFF this past weekend and my god how does she keep that tail so clean? As for the species itself, I think its cute but it gets overused a lot with both DADs and regular ADs being everywhere. The only reason I really stay away from them is because I like going to cons and fursuiting, and with them being mostly minors I don't really want to mix those. Its not that minors at cons are bad, one of my best friends who I see at cons is a minor, but often minors have a parent in tow who doesn't want to be there and I don't want to get assaulted again because a parent is fed up with being at a con they hate. So I don't really have anything personal against DADs, it's just that after that one incident i'm weary of minors with parents who aren't into it, so I just stay away from the DAD community.

I'm sorry you had a crappy experience at a con with overly angry parents! me and a friend have plans to say we're taking a weekend trip and then go to Anthrocon, because there is no way I'm bringing my parents to a con . I'm trying to find out tons about the species, but I'm probably going to make an additional character.
