How do you decide whether or not you should keep a character? When do you know that it's time to let go?
Usually I decide not to keep a character if I don't know what sort of personality or history to write for them. Now there are a few exceptions to this rule... characters whose designs I love usually get a pass on this, but later down the road it makes me anxious that I don't know what I'm doing with them and I end up throwing them out the window.

How do you convince yourself to get rid of a character that you no longer like but have an emotional connection to?
I just had to do this to get rid of a few...I made a list of pros and cons to keeping them by answering questions like 'will I make any money off of this character? Do I have any plans for this character? Do I like this character's design?' It really helped. Now I'm down to only 4 characters that I'm not sure if I should sell/trade/gift or keep.

How do you revive old sparks with characters that you no longer love?
Usually, I don't. But recently I've decided that I am going to start humanizing the feral characters that I have lost a connection with, as I find human characters easier to bond with!

Have you ever had an OC you adore suddenly become a negative source for you (bad memories, rough times, etc)? If so, how did you deal with the OC?
Yes, yes, YES. I got the hell rid of it! One of my old fursonas - a bear named MooShem who was meant to represent my love and dedication to my Taekwondo training - and his apprentice - a cute little brown bear cub - and an adorable Entlebucher Mountain Dog based off of a real life friend all became a terrible source of bad memories for me. I gifted MooShem to someone, redonated his apprentice to a character adoption agency, and sold the Entlebucher (named Charlie). Another character named Buckeye used to be my fursona Jaxie's boyfriend (he was based off of my RL boyfriend), and after he cheated on me, I put Buckeye into the CAAA White Elephant. I'm also about to sell my old fursona Pilot, as she is a strong reminder to some abuse I received. Basically, I see no point in punishing the character's design for my negative associations, so I just rehome them. As long as they're away from me, I feel safe.
