do not, I REPEAT, do NOT underprice yourself!!
I see thing happening all the time in the fc and I know people are unhappy with both their art and work loads
I know people like to draw, I know you want to make something off of it, but underpricing yourself just so
"people will buy" is pointless and stupid and it makes you hate doing the work in the end. you should feel proud
of the work you do and the fact that you are making something off of it. ART SHOULD NOT BECOME SOMETHING
TEDIOUS AND EXHAUSTING!!!! pace yourself and price at what makes you comfortable!!!
one important thing to remember is that 100 points = $1
minimum wage in my state is $7.50 an hour
one of the ways I started to figure out my pricing was based on how long I spent on a piece
if I spent over an hour on it I shouldn't be pricing it at 200-250 points thats a waste of my time
you should do the same. if you put a TON of effort into your work don't underprice yourself
DO BE AWARE that your prices will have to be a little low at first. thats how you entice people in
after you start getting people buying your commissions start raising prices slowly until you get
them where you want. I understand that a lot of people within the fc can't pay and thats both a
bummer for the artist and those who are looking for art. there are other ways to acquire art!!
I know I'm big on doing art trades when I have time. Im not picky on skill level because I remember
when no one would do a trade with me and know what? I love getting a piece of my character no
matter who it is from. you can work out payment plans! say the person only has so many points
you can figure out a way for them to pay you back over a short period of time. otherwise get
creative and talk it over! don't just shoot people down because they can't match your prices rn
and don't get discouraged because you can't afford to commission those you want to at the time
if you are on deviantart, GET YOURSELF OUT THERE
don't sit around waiting for people to come to you you need to go to them
join adopt groups, a lot of them take commissions journals so you can post those there
join groups who share work like the kind you are doing! you can find a lot of like minded people
do some YCH for popular species and post in the species groups.
the more you post the better the chance it is seen. people are always browsing the recent submissions on da
the more you work and the more you put yourself out there the more people will bite
do you like some characters anatomy? draw it! not only does gift art please those who receive it
but drawing something and working outside your usual box helps you improve!!!

hereI understand that skill level is important. I hit on that when I say that you're going to need to start low
everyone starts low until they start to get better with their art. that takes practice and I do say that
you will need to work to get better. while a good point and important, just focusing on skill tends to
put most people down and they don't try to work to get better. What im trying to say is price for how it
is, don't underprice, and work your way up like any other artist out there.
