What is your opinion on Slytherin

Personally I agree with clip, the hat may decide your house, but you decide if you've earned it. Peter earned his way into Gryffindor, and he was loyal to the Potters, the way he dies by his silver hand strangling him to death proves that he was not 100% loyal to Voldemort. If he was, the hand would not have strangled him. Very few times has the hat ever been wrong about where a student belongs, the hat even says "I stand by what I said last year, you would have done well in Slytherin." when Harry thinks he is the Heir of Slytherin and is visiting Dumbledore's office. But the hat was wrong, because if Harry did belong in Slytherin, he never would have pulled out the Sword of Gryffindor, because only a true Gryffindor can pull the sword out of the hat. Everyone who's ever wielded the sword belonged in Gryffindor, otherwise they wouldn't have been able to use it.

What is your favourite book? Favourite movie? ;; Half-Blood Prince for both. (draco my son)

What is your favourite creature mentioned in the series? ;; Basilisk.

Do you have any phrases you picked up from the series that are now part of your regular vocabulary? ;; Muggle; foul evil loathsome little cockroach; some spells; and I now talk to myself/in my mind with a british accent, and say certain words with an accent - which is funny, because it's unintentional! [I've been watching too many British movies/shows (Harry Potter, Sherlock, etc) haha]

I think Tonks was a Hufflepuff, actually? Unless you're referring to her mother, Andromeda - in which case, definitely a Slytherin because all the Blacks were until Sirius bucked the trend. But when someone says Tonks, the first thought will be Nymphadora because she prefers to go by her last name.

Hoo boy, I haven't visited in a while... Is it just me or do we have a lot of Slytherins in here now? Yep, looking at the houses on the front page, Gryffindor is pretty under-represented - which is amusing because every time I've been to the studio tour and the guide calls out "do we have any [insert house] here today?" there are barely any from the three houses that aren't Gryffindor, lol. (Speaking of, booking trip #5 soon because of a friend visiting, and also the new Forbidden Forest feature!)

Also I bet everyone was totally missing Yaxley pushing epic moustache guy in my sig, right?

hi!
haven't posted in a while
tbh i dont think my house suits me ya know?
i love gryffindor, but im not very brave, nor courageous. judging from pinterest and buzzfeed, i think im more of a ravenclaw.
i guess i consider myself as intellegent? mostly because of my asain genes. i like to think about original ideas for assesments and if being a dancer, singer, musician and artist count as talent then yeah i think i have that to. not here to brag btw, i tried to make this sound less show-offy as possible.

also, does anyone else here ship dramione?
i used to love roniome because of all the cute headcanons, fandoms and theories but i've read this thing on pinterest which changed my whole perspective. I'm too lazy to explain it all, but there was this scene in the Chamber of Secrets showing Malfoy ripping a pages off a book. then there was this whole theory about basilisks, books and hermione which i thought was ingenious.

honestly, like harry did, i feel like your house preference is totally taken into consideration. when i first took the pottermore quiz, i was slytherin. i've kept that, even though i've changed, because i like my house. since pottermore usernames are/used to be impossible to remember i've taken the new quiz (i'll get to that in a second) and it's placed me in gryffindor. i've changed somewhat, so some of gryffindor's traits now apply to me, but so do slytherin traits.
anyways, the point of that whole thing was that i think you can pick what house you want to be in.

on the topic of dramione... if you wanna talk about it extensively, please pm me, because i would love to discuss any and all things about it. but on the thread, all i'm going to say is that if you're a dramione shipper and you haven't read isolation by bex-chan you are 100% missing out.
if you don't ship it, come read this fic and you will.
to make sure there is no misunderstanding, it is an m rated fic! so, either wait until you're older, or i can go in if you'd really want me to and find all the m rated stuff and tell you where to stop & restart reading so you don't read it!
definitely read it if you can, though!

finally, i kind of want to talk about the new pottermore. in all honestly, i really don't like it. just... the old test was both so much nicer and cooler? especially when you were first getting into this awesome new site made by j.k rowling, and you could go in and walk through a lot of the books almost chapter by chapter! and the test, even! the house test was so cool compared to the new one. each question had its own artwork, and it overall looked really nice. you could also go into hogwarts and be a student, through the computer. there were house pages and house points, you could brew potions! when you first got sorted into your house, there was a message from our queen specifically about being placed in your house, and there were heads of house (actual people!) that greeted you and kind of just poked you in the right directions to explore the site yourself.
it was just... so much cooler than the new website? at least, i think so.

sorry this post is so big. so much to talk about! C:

relating to emma watson, has anyone seen the new beauty and the beast? she was brilliant in it, and so was her singing!

You're placed into your house based on what you value, not what you are. If you value Gryffindor's traits more than Ravenclaw's, then you're a Gryffindor, but if you value Ravenclaw's traits more then you're Ravenclaw.

Gryffindor values courage, bravery, nerve, and chivalry.
Hufflepuff values hard work, patience, justice, and loyalty.
Ravenclaw values intelligence, creativity, learning, and wit.
Slytherin house values ambition, cunning, leadership, and resourcefulness.

As you can see, Hufflepuff's do not value kindness (based on the wiki list) as many believe, and if you're talented you're not automatically in Ravenclaw.

I have a two questions for you guys!

Code: Select all
Did you prefer Newt or Harry?

Code: Select all
Did you like The Sorcerer's Stone or Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them better?

To answer my own questions, I prefer Harry and The Sorcerer's Stone the best.

Newt or Harry?
For me, this is like comparing an apple and an orange. They're both in the same category (ie; Harry Potter franchise) but they really don't have much to do with each other. I like oranges, and I like apples, and they are both fruits but as to which I prefer if both were put in front of me? Depends on the day, really I think. (haha I'm indecisive and difficult when choosing characters to like XD)

As far as main characters go? I liked Newt a lot, he was likable and I think he was made to be that way. However, I grew up with Harry, almost share a birthday with Harry... And I know more about Harry than I do about Newt. So I really can't formulate an opinion on which I prefer. /I'm difficult/

Sorcerer's Stone or Fantastic Beasts?
Again, hard question xD Sorcerer's Stone introduced me to the HP world. I was a young kid, watched the movie in theatres, got hooked and my older siblings started reading the books as bed time stories. I was able to watch the franchise grow as I grew, reading new books when they came out and going to see all the movies in theatres.

Fantastic Beasts gave HP a whole new layer, though. I adored it. I loved learning about new beasts in the world and learning more about the beasts I already kind of knew. I can't wait to see how this piece of the world is going to evolve, and I hope that we can learn more about things in Dumbledore's era!

That all being said (in a long explanation, I'm good at rambling through writing :D), I think I would have to choose Sorcerer's Stone as it comes to the franchise, just because it introduced me to the world, but Fantastic Beasts on an excitement level and cinematic level (because that was a very well done movie, in my opinion).
