@Perfectwolf thanks for the questions :0
@leverage that art is lovely and so are your OCs!
@Ciel Phantomhive good luck buying~!
@Lyonix all that art is wonderful aaaa <3
@tricksters good luck dude!! I really hope you'll get some of the $$ you need
@gecko. good luck getting art!!
@Hoffungsstern congrats!! your Kia is so cute ! <3
@tennisbutt good luck selling! Those bases are really cute <3
@Emris your new alien design is so cute holy cow
@Hannibun I love all that art! It's all really cool

Would you be interested in having a list with hundreds of occupations/jobs?
yES I need some uncommon job ideas for my characters that aren't used by everyone else aaaa

Do you only display art that you feels best represents your character or do you sometimes leave work up in an oc gallery even if it doesn't properly capture your oc's character? Are you picky with art work?

When ordering art, do you try and find artists who can capture a story? If so, show us some illustrative pieces of your oc's!
my all time favorite artist is probably tricksters/galacticdhole tbh, the expressions/feelings she can get in a piece are amazing I mean look??- boop

What draws you in to a character design? What are particular things that attract you? Does quality matter, or is it all about connection?
I don't usually buy/try out for characters unless I know the person who I'm buying from, but I'm not sure what attracts me to designs honestly >v< ??, because all my characters are all so different

How important to you is it that your oc's are well liked by others? Are they public at all, or do you keep most of their bio information private? it's not important to me at all actually, but it makes me happy when someone likes my characters !

What is the main purpose of your oc's? Are they for role-play? Models to be used in art collecting, or do you like developing lengthy backstories? Tell us why you collect oc's to begin with. drawing / developing / keeping me happy ??? I joined the character community only like 3 years ago haha. I was playing animal jam???? and decided to look up art I guess, I was super into art / and still am / so I was looking up and and found deviant art, joined that, then made some gross AJ OCs?? Then I had to quit DA and eventually found CS! aa >v>''

What do you plan on doing with your oc's in the future? How do you feel they fit into your future?
I'd love to get some plushies for some of them and some tags ^^ /

What do you do with characters that you can't seem to sell but still want to have find good homes?
I gift them to people I guess, unless the character is super close to me, then I keep trying to trade/sell them

What do you feel is the best the thing that has come out of your owning and developing characters? Is this worth
the investment? (time money etc)

I haven't spent ANY money on any of my characters, so I'm kinda proud of that, and the time has mostly been worth it >v<

Do you have a character who is very health conscious (makes sure to exercise, healthy diet, etc)?
none that are super self conscious, but Hira probably goes on a mountain bike ride at least every week

Pick two characters and tell us -their favorite food -their favorite place to sleep -favorite time of the day -what they love and hate about each other
For and Aloe- 1. For: carmel ice cream / Aloe: peanuts 2. For: giant fluffy places <3 / like her giant giraffe pillow I still need to draw / Aloe: in a hammock in his shed >v< 3. For: sunrise / Aloe: noon 4. For thinks Aloe is kind of a jerk / he is tho I mean / Aloe feels bad about being a jerk to For actually

whats your oc's hobby and/or occupation?
Do they enjoy what they do?
Where do you get your high quality reference sheets from?
I'm going to use For again because I'm lazy- 1. For likes flying super low to the ground, no occupation / 2. yea ? aa?? / 3. I don't have any HQ reference sheets, none of my characters really have them ? Not a lot of them have actual refs

Do you own any characters that you designed/created yourself? Show them off and explain
what made you love them.

I have a few ! Rhyme- based off of my love for art? Cat- just word-play I guess haha >v< Solo- based off my love for 70's-80's movies/music Pip- her human form is based off a dress I have and my room, and her animal form is?? >v< ?

OK ANYWAYS
today I got back my kiddo For
Image
design/art by Tricksters
Tricksters spoiled her with art and I love it all so thank you man <3

also not sure if anyones interested but I'm gifting everyone her X
the only ones that aren't free are- Mouse and True. If you're interested just PM me with the character that you want give me a little bit of info about them so I know you'll take care of them and won't just hoard them.if they are already taken then I may not answer, sorry!! Have a good night everyone!

Would you be interested in having a list with hundreds of occupations/jobs?
Absolutely! I really need to fill up a ton of jobs in my universe.

Do you only display art that you feels best represents your character or do you sometimes leave work up in an OC gallery even if it doesn't properly capture your OC's character? Are you picky with artwork?
I display all art and don't really care about the artwork. When doodling something, it can range from five-second-doodle to something that takes days to complete. As to other people, I know what I'm in for when I order!

What draws you in to a character design? What are particular things that attract you? Does quality matter, or is it all about connection?
It's both. Sometimes, it's what I can do, sometimes I just love a character's design. Quality doesn't matter as much, mostly because I can always get another reference of them if necessary.

How important to you is it that your OCs are well liked by others? Are they public at all, or do you keep most of their bio information private?
I honestly don't care who likes and doesn't like my characters. I make, adopt, or buy them for myself and not for others. If someone else likes them, that's just a bonus.

What is the main purpose of your OCs? Are they for role-play? Models to be used in art collecting, or do you like developing lengthy backstories? Tell us why you collect OCs to begin with.
My characters are an outlet for my creativity. I love writing and drawing, and I drew characters before I'd heard of characters. I now have a main cast of OCs and 200+ others that I adopted or bought. Most are used in my stories or doodles, and I love 'em all equally, some being more equal than others.

What do you plan on doing with your OCs in the future? How do you feel they fit into your future?
I'm gonna keep drawing and writing! If I can, I'll try and stick references to them in my writing, for example in my current book (keep in mind that I haven't yet published), I'm thinking of sticking in a Light Collector or two as a "will-o-wisp" type creature.

What do you do with characters that you can't seem to sell but still want to have find good homes?
Nothing. I currently have quite a few characters I want gone but I don't know how to sell them. Yet.

What do you feel is the best the thing that has come out of your owning and developing characters? Is this worth the investment? (time, money, etc)
I'm a better writer and drawer. What more can a person who loves doing both ask for? It's been totally worth the time I've put into them, considering I've literally spent years collecting, making, drawing, and writing.

Do you have a character who is very health conscious (makes sure to exercise, healthy diet, etc)?
I'm not entirely sure, but I'll list some (including groups) who might count. Rema the Rainbow Paint Wolf was abandoned and raised by wild animals, and even after being "domesticated", still loves being active and in the outdoors and actually considers it a crime to not be busy every second of the day...outside. My feral groups, most notably the packs of Gold, Horns, Flowers, and Petals, have to hunt and patrol every single day to survive, with the younger generations going to school in between learning how to be a proper part of their pack. Therefore, they have no choice but to excercise and have a healthy diet unless they want to die.

Pick two characters and tell us: a) their favorite food, b) their favorite place to sleep, c) favorite time of the day, and d) what they love and hate about each other
Ianthina loves grasses of all sorts, loves to sleep in flowers, loves the sunshine, and hates Burnet for being so annoying.
Burnet loves eggs, loves to sleep with her birth siblings and step-siblings, loves a cool fall day, likes Ianthina for being sassy and hates her for being so stuck-up.

What's your OC's hobby and/or occupation? Do they enjoy what they do? Where do you get your high quality reference sheets from?
WELL. I'm going to pick one, my first and main of the mains. Cloudy the pegasus works for his government and enjoys it greatly, because he occasionally travels to another universe and is privy to all sorts of state secrets. His hobbies include caring for his family--Sky, his mate who works with him, and his three children Nova, Rachel, and Jay--caring for the family fire-lizards, reading, drawing, sailing, and making a nuisance of himself.

Do you own any characters that you designed/created yourself? Show them off and explain what made you love them.
Take a peek at the Original Characters! I love 'em all because they're what remain of my original 1000+ cast of characters. No, I'm not kidding. Anyways, I eventually slimmed it down to these guys because they were the only ones whose names I remembered with the exception of Mr. Brown, formerly Cloudy and Sky's second child who never had any development beyond being a brown pegasus. Some, though, were created as fan characters (Pine) or characters of species that never made it past the drawing board (Nebula). They have quite the history, as you can see!

@bellini79: What a cute oc. Congratulations on the art that you've gotten of her. c:
@PerfectWorld: Thanks for the unique questions!
@leverage: Congratulations on all of the artwork and new characters. Those top two pieces are amazing and that tiny is adorable. o:
@Lyonix ♡: Those tiny color-ins are so cute. Gosh, all of the art that you received is incredible.

Do you only display art that you feels best represents your character or do you sometimes leave work up in an oc gallery even if it doesn't properly capture your oc's character? Are you picky with art work?
Why order art if you aren't going to display it? If an artist has worked hard on a piece for my oc, then I feel that it would be rude of me to toss it aside. All artwork of any level has value to me, and therefore I will show off any artwork of my characters that I receive.

When ordering art, do you try and find artists who can capture a story? If so, show us some illustrative pieces of your oc's!
I love artwork that tells a story! I'm on cloud nine whenever I manage to find an artist capable of doing that. This one is by Shadowphoenixfox, and it's one of my all time favorite pieces that I've ever ordered of my ocs. There's just so much personality captured in this art.

Image

What draws you in to a character design? What are particular things that attract you? Does quality matter, or is it all about connection?
It's 100% about the connection for me. It doesn't matter if it has 1 or 100 pieces of art, or if it has a high quality reference or none at all. If I look at it and immediately know what I want to do with it, then I get it. As for spesific things I'm drawn to, I tend to like designs with a darker color palate that is accented with one bright color. Novi (the hyena above) is a good example of that. I also love alien, cyborg, and creature designs.

How important to you is it that your oc's are well liked by others? Are they public at all, or do you keep most of their bio information private?
I don't really care if people like my characters or not, but most everything that I have written down about my characters is located in their bios, which are public.

What is the main purpose of your oc's? Are they for role-play? Models to be used in art collecting, or do you like developing lengthy backstories? Tell us why you collect oc's to begin with.
My characters have various purposes. Some of them are primarily there for me to draw and write about when I'm feeling down. Examples of those would be Novi and Dee. Some of my characters are ones that I plan on incorporating in a comic that I'm working on, like my alien-esque creatures. It all depends on the character, I guess.

What do you plan on doing with your oc's in the future? How do you feel they fit into your future?
I plan on keeping them and developing them further. I don't ever plan on getting rid of them.

---

I also have some new art to show off. <3

I have always found it hard to find Makos I like (Or I always miss out on the ones I like), let alone afford some of these lovelies (Why do I always like the expensive ones?!), but I have recently found two beauties that I fell in love with and was able to sort a deal for!

For the Ask That Character game it was messaged to me that I may want to restate/revise the rules. Which they made a good point so.

Rules:
1. You may ask as many previous players as you like. BUT you must ask the last poster a question, you may not skip over them, this is why its color coded.
2. If you ask multiple people please ask everyone whos playing whos posted within the area that your asking. I.E. You ask a question of the person above you and one 8 posts back, if there are players who have posted between 1 and 8 please include them too. This is to keep people from feeling left out.
3. To play the minimal asking is of 1, the last player who posted before you.
4. You do not have to play.

Would you be interested in having a list with hundreds of occupations/jobs?
YES PLEASE AND THANK YOU

Do you only display art that you feels best represents your character or do you sometimes leave work up in an oc gallery even if it doesn't properly capture your oc's character? Are you picky with art work?
I display it all. Unless I made it and dislike it, then it can fall into obscurity and vanish. But generally yes, I've bought alot of art now and to not display it would feel like wasting money or points.

When ordering art, do you try and find artists who can capture a story? If so, show us some illustrative pieces of your oc's!
Not so much I guess. I guess I just find an artist I like. In some cases I mention personality and such so that the art fits the character better but I also buy alot of my art now from particular artists so they know my characters lol.

What draws you in to a character design? What are particular things that attract you? Does quality matter, or is it all about connection?
Quality is part of it sad to say. But most of it is connection. Recently I bought a lion character who I saw over a year ago and simply loved because there was something regal, sad, and powerful about him. When I showed him to a few friends they went eh at his quality cuz hes mainly a white cream color and in all honesty ya would not be hard to duplicate lol. But idk...something about him just has always struck me, so when he was for sale and I could aford him I nabbed him up.

How important to you is it that your oc's are well liked by others? Are they public at all, or do you keep most of their bio information private?
I....am to lazy to write most the bios OTL I'm a bad owner. But I do love it when people like my characters, it makes me feel cool. But I accept that I have a different taste then alot of people and some of my babies are not fan favorites. But their my babies so pff on all else.

What is the main purpose of your oc's? Are they for role-play? Models to be used in art collecting, or do you like developing lengthy backstories? Tell us why you collect oc's to begin with.
Really I have this head world I go to when bored or zoning out where all these insane things called characters run around screaming. I do like collecting art of them but honestly my favorites seem to have voices that talk in my head (I sound so crazy now). So I guess collecting gives me something to think about. Like right now Adara, Gabe, and Blair are at the forefront of character thought with how the three mesh with eachother and does Blair count as a friend to the other two are is her personality to outgoing and adventurous for the other two to hang on, and Adara's constant frustration with trying to make a golden age. She crazy.

What do you plan on doing with your oc's in the future? How do you feel they fit into your future?
I really don't know, don't think I like thinking about it much. Right now they make me happy and thats what matters to me, right now. One day I may grow out of them, perhaps I wont. I worry a bit about one day getting into a relationship and then trying to explain this to them. Hey boyfriend I collect imaginary friends and make up stories for them and show people art of them and talk about these imaginary things and buy them art. Ya that just doesnt sound like a fun conversation lol.

@ NARANDA - that char is beautiful <3
i'll see if i can find anything anywhere for the char ! c:
and your nakos' hair is so pretty

@ McShizzle - I really like Jericho's antlers and face cx

@ Kat - I love how cartoony the piece by Tweekling is!
It seems to portray your char pretty well!

        I have 3 new characters ! <3

        The first is this char!
        Image
I admire their appearance overall, as well as the personality i'm whipping up for them!

        I also got Alex,
        Image
i've got some cool ideas developing for him too, especially in regards to his sword! and his hair cx

and finally, this smol child who i have no name for yet but it'll come
        Image
i'm going to make them a nice ref sheet eventually once i'm done with other art as well as typing up responses to rps

I also have some chars up for sale here!
Click on the char to go to their page and see their price!
Some are being revamped, so they're on hold until until they're done being revamped!

Prices are not entirely final so we can totally negotiate for some chars,
i 'll take points, USD, or art for Pescito or my Trio
for the trio, you don't have to draw them all together, a single piece of a single one of them is cool too

i'm mostly looking for small things like icons, tags, cheebies, but absolutely anything is fine to offer!

@ bellini79 That hat is huge. Are they some sort of jester?
@ Kat Vic is cute! I don't see a lot of rats.
@ NARANDA Still no luck finding that character? That stinks! But the Makos sure are cute!
@ Mc Shizzle Big Congratulations on getting your dream mako!
@ lunamoth19 Ooh, badger shapeshifter. Haven't seen that around before.
@ Qiokkabee Those claws are so cool!
@Zailune Good luck with the Wulgiels and I hope the species gets a good owner!
Do you only display art that you feels best represents your character or do you sometimes leave work up in an oc gallery even if it doesn't properly capture your oc's character? Are you picky with art work?
Yeah, well... I did most of my character's art so usually it fits pretty well, but even if it doesn't work with them anymore I'll leave it up. I find I do this a lot more with the one shots I write them in. They just develop from story to story but I can't be bother to take the scene down.
I wouldn't say I'm too picky with art, I just don't have enough time, energy, or payment to be ordering tons of good pieces.
When ordering art, do you try and find artists who can capture a story? If so, show us some illustrative pieces of your oc's! No. I think the most 'illustrative piece' was from a SS ages ago of a character I haven't done anything with in so so so long.

What draws you in to a character design? What are particular things that attract you? Does quality matter, or is it all about connection?
Hmm, I like oriental styles, natural colors, medieval themes, on anthros. I like it to be at least half-way decent if I'm buying or adopting it, but if I have a connection, especially on an adopt, I go pretty far out to try and get it.
How important to you is it that your oc's are well liked by others? Are they public at all, or do you keep most of their bio information private?
I don't care at all with people like or even see my character at this point. I have a storage thread on here but most of the stuff is backed up elsewhere.

What is the main purpose of your oc's? Are they for role-play? Models to be used in art collecting, or do you like developing lengthy backstories? Tell us why you collect oc's to begin with.
The main purpose is to populate my story worlds, to be my writing characters, which usually does require quite a bit of backstory. I started collecting because I joined here and everyone else was doing it and it looked cool. It got a bit out of hand so I quit for a while, then started back up again with characters I connected most with.

What do you plan on doing with your oc's in the future? How do you feel they fit into your future?
I plan on writing their stories. Which is a large part of the future since I want to publish.

@Lunamoth19 You sound very passionate about your oc's! Its nice seeing someone who connects so strongly with them. Hopefully you can find a partner who understands the relationship you have with them c:
@Qiokkabee Alex is adorable<3 Love the simplicity of that design.
@Kat Illustrative art is great for sure! I like that character interaction piece you showed with your yena oc. Honestly, ordering art with another character always makes the two in the image so much more interesting to look at.

Do you only display art that you feels best represents your character or do you sometimes leave work up in an oc gallery even if it doesn't properly capture your oc's character? Are you picky with art work?
I only display art that I feel represents my character. Usually I only hire artists I feel are capable of capturing them properly anyways, but in the case of art that isn't accurate to the character, I leave it out. I want people to look at my oc gallery and see the same vision I had for that individual.

When ordering art, do you try and find artists who can capture a story? If so, show us some illustrative pieces of your oc's!
Absolutely! Not going to show any here, but I find oc galleries a lot more entertaining (and rewarding) when theres a story within the art. Something that I look at that not only gives me an idea of the characters personality, but what their life is like and how they interact with others.

What draws you in to a character design? What are particular things that attract you? Does quality matter, or is it all about connection?
Quality absolutely helps, but 'quality' ranges. I like things from simple cartoons all the way to industry level, but connection is the most important part. I need to look at a character and immediately feel a story or personality from it.

How important to you is it that your oc's are well liked by others? Are they public at all, or do you keep most of their bio information private?
Since I use them for role-play its absolutely important that other people like my characters, at least for their personality.

Appearance is almost entirely unimportant, but in terms of development my oc's must be fun to interact with. They have to have a good sense of balance, and well thought out backstories so that they can be properly understood and remain consistent.

What is the main purpose of your oc's? Are they for role-play? Models to be used in art collecting, or do you like developing lengthy backstories? Tell us why you collect oc's to begin with.
I started collecting oc's for the sake of art collection, now they are primarily used for role-play.

What do you plan on doing with your oc's in the future? How do you feel they fit into your future?
I'm hoping to keep them well into my old age lmao. I think modern culture has started accepting nerd culture a lot more and as that becomes normalized hopefully Ill grow old with another generation of role-players and character collectors.

Alright
Another set of character questions before I disappear for another 2 million years

It was interesting seeing responses the first time

Code: Select all
How do you go about developing your oc's? Do you create character quizzes, sketch, construct bio's and look for critique?

Do you have a goal with your oc's? Or an oc 'wishlist' of sorts? This can range from a wishlist detailing what you want to accomplish with your oc's to what sort of art you want for them.

Who was your first oc? Do you still have them? Are there still feelings attached to that character and have you continued their development? If you no longer have them, do you regret letting go of them?

Who is your current favourite oc? Why are they your favourite?

Who is your most well liked oc? Why do you think other people like this oc?

How did you get into the oc community? What attracted you to it? Are you still in it for the same reasons?
