How do you decide whether or not you should keep a character? When do you know that it's time to let go?
Usually I just feel I don't use them as much anymore. I forget all about them and find it hard to draw any art of them.
I give up on many characters though, I'm used to constantly redesigning and abandoning my babes.

How do you convince yourself to get rid of a character that you no longer like but have an emotional connection to?
I try to turn it into another character or completely redesign it. Perhaps I find another design and then give them the history/personality of the precious character, scrapping the design completely.
Although if you wanted to completely get rid of it, you could try to hide all the art of them and pretend you don't have them anymore. You might get used to being without them like that, making it easier to let go.

How do you revive old sparks with characters that you no longer love?
I go back to whatever started the character (designed by a cool person? Look at their gallery. Inspired by a song? Listen to it).
Then I also sometimes force myself to draw a few quick doodles of them. If I find them at least slightly fun to draw then soon the spark will come back. If not.. Well, might be time to get rid of them for me!

To be honest, whenever I lose connection with both the design and personality of a character and it's too difficult to regain connection, I decide that it's best that the character go to a better home.

How do you convince yourself to get rid of a character that you no longer like but have an emotional connection to?

It's really hard for me to do that, as the emotional connection is probably something that holds me to keep a lot of the characters I don't use very much anymore.

Drawing them usually helps me, and developing some new quirks or completely revamping their character also helps!

Speaking of losing connection and letting go of characters, I'm selling/trading a few here if any of you are interested!
I love their designs but unfortunately I cannot connect to them other than that.
