Well i think they should not be offended and just explain that they are not Wiccan, Yet i understand why they might feel offended as i think Wicca is misunderstood in some cases but it also has a bad reputation(in a way) as for example the man Gerald Gardner created it and in a way he made it to fill his needs(ect 'the great rite' between high priest and high pristess, note that this is not preformed in mordern times as many Wiccans are Solitary but this still happens in some Covens). But then Wicca is heavily infulenced by old ancient pagan traditions as well.
Also, i have noticed that many people who are beginners in Wicca don't relise that Wicca is a New Religion and that it was created in 1954 By Gardner, but i didn't know that either when i first started becoming interested in Wicca about 4 years ago.

I think you're right with what you said. I think a lot of it has to do with "fluffy bunnies" because people say they're Wiccan just because of spells and witchcraft. I feel like a lot of new people don't understand that it's an actual faith, let alone a way of life. They just want to do magick.

Yep thats true, Another issue is that they become (well not become but rather label themself) Wiccan is because 'its cool' and they show it off. I know someone who calls themself a 'wiccan witch' , she keeps talking about her spells and rituals she has done but this shows shes just in it for the magick (Your supposed to keep silent about you craft as well)
I can't blame anyone as there are soo many websites that give false information tho :L

It's annoying because people just "assume" Wiccan. I'm not too offended, but it is sort of just...
For me it's also annoying when people assume I follow the Rede or Karma because I'm Pagan. I, no offense, don't follow the Rede or Karma. Or people assume I like "Evil Satanic Magic." For me, it's about balance. Light and dark, death and life; and responsibility for your actions, not karma.
*Disclaimer: I'm still in this club only because there is no "Pagan Club." My beliefs are similar in some ways, radically different in others."

Enyo's back? Weird.
Anyway, as the poster above me, I am not Wiccan, my faith is listed on the main list, though.

Being in that boat myself, the most I can say is that at times it gets rather annoying, but understandable. Wicca is one of the more 'mainstream' of the Pagan faiths, and due to the influence of pop culture it is usually the first Pagan faith people think of in today's world. I then have to sit them down and briefly explain that I am not Wiccan (not fully, anymore at least), and the significant differences between my own faith and an 'umbrella' version of Wicca. It's a tad annoying that such a wide term as Pagan is centered so quickly to a certain branch on the massive tree, as stated, usually Wicca. To sound like a broken record-- this is mostly due to pop culture influence.

I don't believe I'm actually Wiccan, too many of my views differ from that of which I've read in 'actual Wiccan books' but I accept the term Wiccan as it still feels much closer than my old faith of Christianity. Plus, fewer that I would attempt to explain my belief to would understand 'Neopaganism' than even understand 'Wicca' with a halfway open mind, which would be counterproductive.
I stopped caring about giving myself a specific division of faiths when I realized (when I was still Christian) that I didn't even hold the Methodist beliefs about tounges no longer existing, yet I didn't fully agree with any other denominations either. One's personal beliefs are not defined by whatever word he actually label himself with, the word is just to give the viewer some idea of what he believes. -or so I feel-
