It's an interesting concept, but it doesn't seem very Disney. Disney always does well when they do classic stuff, like 'Beauty and the Beast', 'Tangled', 'Lion King' etc. It's nice that they're trying different things, but... yeah, I have idea how good 'Wreck-it Ralph' is gonna be.

I have to agree. Honestly, I would be more optimistic if Ralph were to be a Pixar movie; when Disney uses original material for their scripts, it often doesn't go over well. After Fantasia 2000, Disney's animated movies went into a dark age and didn't come out of it completely until Princess and the Frog. What were most of their movies missing? Roots in classic literature and fairy tales. While Pixar was doing amazing despite all of their movies using completely new material.
I think the best step for Disney would be to let Pixar do the original movies and continue doing fairy tales. It's what they're best at.

However, despite all of the above, Ralph and the movies after could be great! They just... don't sound or feel very Disney.

I agree with that; let Pixar do the original material and let Walt Disney continue fairy tales.

I love 'Ponyo'! Yes, it is super cute! I love when they're making the noodles. And I also love the creepy guy, (forgot his very Japanese name) Ponyo's dad. I don't know why, I just think he's awesome.

I just saw Tangled for the first time tonight... and was completely blown away <3 Definitely on par with movies such as Cinderella and Little Mermaid, in my opinion. My only complaint was the brown hair thing... she was so much cuter as a blonde D: I wish they could have figured out something else to differentiate between magical and... 'not magical'.

I don't get why Disney is going so off-track now. There's tons of fairy-tales out there, and if they were given the same charm as Tangled, they could all turn out amazing.

Just watched 'Tarzan II' for the first time. It was super cute. Lacking in any sort of real good character building, but what can you do? It's a sequel. What is it with Disney naming everything 'II'? I mean couldn't they have just as easily called it 'Young Tarzan', 'The Adventures of Young Tarzan'? Anyway, with so many 'Tarzan' movies out, I guess it doesn't matter how good/bad it is. At least Tarzan spoke in proper English. (That always annoyed me in the old 'Tarzan' movies; you'd think after 5 or 6 movies he'd have grasped the concept of pronouns) But the movie was adorable. I love any movie with Phil Collins music. I love all the original 'Tarzan' songs. I have to watch the Disney 'Tarzan' again, I haven't seen it in a while.

[Howl comes running out of the bathroom, screaming. His hair is now orange]
Howl: Sophie! You, you sabotaged me! Look! Look at what you've done to my hair! Look!

Old Sophie: What a pretty color.
Howl: It's hideous! You completely ruined my magic potions in the bathroom!
Old Sophie: I just organized things, Howl. Nothing's ruined.
Howl: Wrong! Wrong! I specifically ordered you not to get carried away!
[tragically]
Howl: Now I'm repulsive.
[slumps into a chair]

Howl: I can't live like this.
[starts sobbing, head in hands]

Old Sophie: Come on, it's not that bad.
[Howl's hair changes color to purple, then black]
Old Sophie: You should look at it now, its shade is even better.

Howl: [inconsolable] I give up. I see no point in living if I can't be beautiful.

I have had that 'Son of Man' song stuck in my head since yesterday. XD That is such a great song. All of the orginal 'Tarzan' songs are. 'You'll be in my Heart' always gets me. I really wanna see it again. Maybe I'll rent it this weekend.

I don't even really remember 'Tarzan' that well, except you know the story, the songs, and some of the particulaly gorgeous bits of animation. That and, when it first came out, my cousin wanted to play Tarzan once, and he insisted I had to be Jane, but I wanted to be the leopard and chase him around and eat him. So I pretended to be Jane, and then I turned into the leopard and ate him. :D Were-leopard Jane! Rawr! Ha ha! Being a little kid was fun. Jane's pretty cool though. I like Jane now.

EDIT: So, I rented 'Tarzan'! Yay! I haven't watched it yet because I also rented 'Prince of Egpyt', which I haven't seen since I was like eight, and my family all voted for that one. That movie is so freakin' EPIC! I know it's not Disney, so I won't say much else about it, except that is definitly on my top ten favorite animated movies of all time. (if not favorite movies) And one of the directors of 'Prince of Eygpt' also wrote/worked on the upcoming 'Brave', so you can understand my excitement over it. I am just so pumped after seeing 'Prince of Egpyt' I couldn't resist being all *sqeee!* Reminds me why I love animation, and now I totally want to run out and be an animator and do stuff like that.

Sorry, you may go back to Disney Epicness now please.

Seems everyone is hard at work at the Halloween event! :D

Anyway, just wanted to say I watched 'Tarzan'. Man, that is a good movie, and then I found out Glen Keane supervised the animation on adult Tarzan, and I was like 'Awesome!' Glen Keane is my favorite animator, I love all his work. He did the Beast in 'Beauty and the Beast', Silver in 'Treasure Planet', Pocohantos, Aladdin, and was a directing animator/producer on 'Tangled', as well as a lot of others. So yeah, he's super talented. He could draw a stick figure, and it'd be awesome. I really admire all his animation. Also, John Ripa, who was the main animator for Jim from 'Treasure Planet', also did young Tarzan in the movie, so that's pretty cool.

Does anyone else have a favorite animator?

Tarzan is a really awesome movie; I love all the songs <3

I haven't been a Disney fan long enough to know that much about the animators, but I have heard of Glen Keane and he seems like a really talented person.
He actually was in charge of making these gorgeous Disney Princess toddler dolls I've been drooling over:

Did anyone see the new designer princess dolls? My sis is crazy- the dolls are sold out online, and the stores only got 10 of each princess. So she decided to camp out outside the mall to grab one at four in the morning! At let's just say she is over the age of 18. But hey, we're a Disney family.
