I know I'm totally judging before I've seen it, and I know that usually when I pin a movie as bad before it comes out it turns out amazing, but I'm just not feeling it. It's an interesting concept, but it doesn't seem very Disney. Disney always does well when they do classic stuff, like 'Beauty and the Beast', 'Tangled', 'Lion King' etc. It's nice that they're trying different things, but... yeah, I have idea how good 'Wreck-it Ralph' is gonna be.
I have to agree. Honestly, I would be more optimistic if Ralph were to be a Pixar movie; when Disney uses original material for their scripts, it often doesn't go over well. After Fantasia 2000, Disney's animated movies went into a dark age and didn't come out of it completely until Princess and the Frog. What were most of their movies missing? Roots in classic literature and fairy tales. While Pixar was doing amazing despite all of their movies using completely new material.
I think the best step for Disney would be to let Pixar do the original movies and continue doing fairy tales. It's what they're best at.
However, despite all of the above, Ralph and the movies after could be great! They just... don't sound or feel very Disney.
