A guy in my class today brought up the topic of furries. Unfortunately the things he said weren't exactly kind. So no one knows I'm furry (I know it's nothing to be ashamed of and its just a hobby, but being in school it's not something you go around telling everybody) But this kid in my class,UGH! No one on the table knew what a furry was. So he started saying all the stereotypical things about the sexual side of the fandom. He actual said we were into something, but I'm not going to say as this site is meant to be a child friendly site. ( I also don't hate the sexual side of the fandom, it's just frustrating when people say we are all like that ). He didn't say anything about the art side of the fandom or anything. And you know the most frustrating part of all!! I didn't say anything. I didn't correct him or disagree. First of all it was around the end of class when got on topic, and I'm just too shy. I was scared that if I started correcting him, they were all going know I'm a furry. And tease me for it, which is like them. I mean they don't mean it in a bad way, they are just very immature. Besides the relationship with one of these with these people is... complicated.

Anyway, I needed to get that off my chest. I know it's not a very happy story, but... I don't know. I don't hate the guy or anything, I just wish people weren't so closed minded. I also wish I said something. But it's in the past now, so I'm over it.

That's actually really steriotypical for people to think that. People are really narrow minded when they talk about the furry fandom.

They don't think about the good side, or anything bright about it. Even if you did, it's inly get worst. It's normal for you to not, personally I wouldn't. If people found out your are, they'll make a mess about you and people will talk big but not around the people they're talking about. Its the world, it's a cruel harsh reality.
If you don't agree what they agree with they'll laugh at you.
So personally, don't defend the fandom,no matte he much pressure they put on you just don't. It'll make things worst for the fandom and yourself.
