{I like the idea of some sort of contest. c: I know several other species make surprise designs for events such as Christmas and Easter. Maybe have a summer event like that, where you reveal a bubble or something that has a sneak peak of the design underneath. If the competitions were pretty short, maybe only a couple hours to a day, it might draw some attention in, plus create some suspense and fun conversation while you wait to be able to see the full design.

Or perhaps a writing contest? You could challenge people to come up with stories based on GoS legends. They don't necessarily have to be true stories incorporated into the species, but could be folklore and ghost stories for the community. You could also have an art section, or have writers and artists team up to create a story with a visual representation too. Might be a fun little event, and would allow the community to interact more. c:

I think any kind of contest would be great (drawing, writing, whatever) as long as there is a bit of story or background included.
The basic idea behind this is that owners get a deeper connection with their adoptables and develop personalities etc. for them. And obviously you're more active in a community where your adopts are more characters than just colourful pixels.

It would be owned by nobody, forever free, but you can use it for art etc, without asking for permission?

Sorry I haven't been very active on the thread! Anyways, I agree with Yamaneko, a mascot would be a great idea. It could also act as a promoter for the species.

then the artists would be forced to draw on the exact day of the week, or need to wait a week longer when they don't have the time to draw on that day, when they want to make a certain color idea that got in their head and it wouldn't be a surprise anymore what color would come in the moment a new one comes out. i don't think it is a good idea ^^
but i like the idea with the mascot too x3

Yep, I left the mane on the head shot to see the face and horns better and left the horns on the body lines because they would have covered some parts of the body where might be markings.
The neacle is removeable since only Male GoS need it.
Unnatural colors are kind of symmetrical on both sides of the body but the basic coat color might not. Therefore I made this reference;
