@apartmentcat
welcome! during my last couple trips i came across some nice stuff like stones, sea shells, antique
reliquaries and some clothes for the altar; but it's so hard to find nice feathers around here, so that
collection means hundreds of pidgeon feathers lol. not that magical, but works either way. the only
other ones came from gifts, like a peacock and crow ones. i hella enjoy joining those to the family.
best kind of gift; can we agree? ahem, focus. what are your favourite findings at the moment?
@warmwitheredeyes
hello, there! oh, the ideal of a well-rounded witch. i share that too. i'm not exactly pagan, but i've
been dwelling on a lot of posts about it last month. i even prepared for samhain pretty seriously,
took advantage of it and had one of the most clarifying/revealing spreads for the year... for now.
also, when you wrote potions.. you mean as a green witch, with herbs? medicinal? or as a spell?

Thank you!
I tend to find a lot of feathers. I don't know if it's just because there's a lot of birds in my area or something about me attracts them to me? Mostly they're from ravens and magpies, though I found an awesome green one once. They're not really suitable for a divination set though because they're too fragile, but I put them on my altar.
I live in the city so mostly I tend to find bits off cars, stones and bottle caps. I found an awesome bent rusty nail near a construction site once! With the more common ones, I'll only keep them if there's a memory attached to them. One time I found gumnut in my garden, but there are no gum trees in my area, so it immediately became a symbol of the unexpected and mysterious!
Some things were also gifts or charms, small figurines, etc that I got in my monthly witchy subscription box. Or a spoon from a time I went to get ice cream from with my friends and had a great time that I remember. Stuff like that.
Anyway, enough rambling!

Welcome! You have both been added to the list.
As a question to you and anyone else who would like to answer: What does magic preparation look like for you? Do you meditate? Do you burn a candle or some incense? Or maybe even do self-care (i.e. checking if you need food, water, etc. beforehand)? I personally check to see if I'm hungry and then occasionally meditate if I need to center myself. I find that performing routines can help me when I'm lacking the energy c:

I'm a bit spontaneous so usually there isn't a lot of preparation. I usually light a couple of candles and some incense. I might play a shamanic drumming audio track from Youtube if I need a bit of extra ambiance. Oh, and I wash my hands beforehand usually, too. I take a couple of deep breaths and then I go for it!
I think that gathering the ingredients together beforehand helps to get me in the right frame of mind, so I don't need to do a lot of meditation, etc.

I apologize for the late welcome, but hello to you all! You have all been added to the list.
I would also love to see more activity (although there is absolutely no pressure to post often, I can understand being nervous or not knowing what to say). If any of you are curious about something or would just like to post about your practices then please feel free! Learning about how other people do things is a good way to open your own perspective c:

@theradiantfern & @apartmentcat
i like to be spontaneous as well, it can be pretty interesting and on the spot. most of my strongest
experiences came from planned sessions, though. i check the calendar, make sure is the right time
(moon phase and time of the day -wise) for the reading or the spell or whatever other practice i'll
be performing. though, most times end up starting right before midnight. same, though, prior to
anything i clean my altar (or working station), wash my face and hands, and get the tools out. with
me is about going big or going home. i need to be well-rested, headache-free, i like to drink enough
water beforehand, meditate/grounding. if all is good, then i light candles, swirl around with the
burner and play some music -if you want to, i'll share my list-. if something is not working, i'll take
a cleansing bath and call it a day. i'm very fond of my rituals, you could say.

@Ringo. wrote:okay! So last weekended I decided to give my friend a little tarot reading. Iโm still an amateur when it comes to readings. But this one was so accurate we couldnโt even finish it. It scares us and since we both have anxiety it sort of led us into a panic attack. And later that day, what the cards were trying to tell us, happened. Which really creeped me out. It also made me realize that Iโm getting better at tarot readings and that Iโm connecting more with my cards which makes me really happy. I just wanted to share that since itโs a big experience that I had with these cards.
@Ringo.
well, hello there! i'm really sorry the cards triggered both you and your friend. though, in a more
positive setting.. that sounds awesome. congrats! feels pretty good to connect with a deck, right?
may i ask with deck do you use? also, may i suggest, if you haven't done it already, to make a deck
introduction spread with it?
regarding this reading matter, @everyone, if you do readings for other people, how do you work it
out? your blurt out everything and leave it as it is? ping-pong through the session? make a follow-up
chat/meeting with them about it?

@blakebelladonna & @terror in tokyo
haven't forgotten about you, sorry again for the late welcoming! i tend to log in once a week so..
anyway.. it's nice to see new people joining in. and both of you are interested in scrying! which
medium draws your attention more: mirrors, crystal balls, elements (i'm including the clouds here
lol) or with eyes closed? though, @anyone can feel free to answer!
