Mel doesn't hope to find a mate, she actually wants to remain single. She doesn't have her eye on anyone at the moment either. So naturally, she doesn't think about what she wants him to be like. However, she knows that she won't go for just anyone. She's heterosexual, so that rules out the female gander. Plus, she'd want her guy to care about her and actually think of her of himself. She also won't take anyone with serious problems--she just can't deal with it.
