3 years after Team Rocket was disbanded once more, the Legendary Beasts have reappeared and have travelled across the land, searching for their proper trainer. Will you be the one who will capture them? Set out into the Johto Region, discover new Pokemon, battle rivals and take the Pokemon Gym Challenge! Find your destiny as Champion of Johto, and maybe even make a name for yourself by capturing all 3 Legendary Beasts."
Takes place 3 years after HG/SS, revolves around the Legendary Beasts. Whoever you don't pick becomes your rival, as usual your rival picks the Pokemon that's strongest against you. Natalie and Nathan are default names, and can be switched. Legendary Beasts become available after all 8 Gyms are beaten, and must be encountered at least once each before moving on to the Elite 4.
After the Elite 4, the player cannot travel to Kanto, but a park (Kanto Park) will be opened near the Safari Zone where more Kanto Pokemon can be captured. Legendaries such as Moltres, Zapdos, Articuno, Mew and Mewtwo are available through different features. The Legendary Birds can be found in the sky post game, where player can control flight like Pokemon Ranger: Guardian Signs. Mew can be found in Kanto Park, but only at a specific time at night. Mewtwo will automatically be available once Mew is captured. Ho-oh and Lugia can be captured in the sky after the Legendary Birds are captured and Celebi can be caught after the Legendary Beasts are caught.
Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova and Kalos Pokemon are unavailable, and can only be obtained through trade. It is trade compatible with all games from Diamond to Black 2.
