Still working on my reference sheet for my OC, Sapiens. Here's what I have so far of him--

Sapiens (saw-pee-ens) is the god of creatures within my story. He created all creatures in turn, starting with wolves, rabbits, hawks, and deer-- which were initially made to resemble his own appearance.
Though new creatures are not made in the modern times of my story, Sapiens is still a highly spoken of and respected god. As each creature dies, it is Sapiens' job to guide souls into their next bodies, continuing on the flow of life with reincarnation.
It is because of his love and care for all creatures that Sapiens has become many more times revered than Ineo, the very creator of the world, his mother.
Sapiens' base design was actually extremely random. I just drew some random creature one day and it evolved into this, lol.
I decided to later pick apart several of his parts, and make a story of creating creatures based off of his own looks-- rabbit, hawk, deer, and wolf were quite easy to get off of him. xD
His overall body shape is birdlike, except for wolf-like legs. The only part of him that hasn't been defined as another animal is his tail, which is just generic, I'd say.
His legs and tailbones are actually bare bone, although they appear to be silvery. Silver is a very important aspect in my story for reasons that I cannot tell, and is mentioned many times so I thought that this was a nice touch for him. The reason for them actually being bone is to show how he deals with both life and death.
I've thought of making his antlers silvery as well, but I've had two qualms against that and decided not to. For one, it just looks ugly, and then the fact that antlers are constantly growing and being replaced doesn't really bring out that "dead" aspect as his legs do, so matching them doesn't make much sense to me. xD
There is really only one solid religion in my story, and it all centers around Sapiens and his mother. Nearly everyone within the country Lorn believes in the two, and stories centering around them.
Belief remains very strong in the two gods as Sapiens and Ineo are both often seen by mortal eyes. It is said that Ineo can be found near the pure Lake Vale, while Sapiens is spoken of as roosting at the top of the largest mountain within Lorn, The Horn.
In addition, Sapiens is often spotted in dreams-- and in near-death experiences. Nearly all dream spottings of him are just fantasies, but, while some have doubts, true near death experiences are actual glimpses into the god's realm, a place between life and death (note, there is no heaven or hell in my story, only life, between life, and life again.)
Though this has never been confirmed by anyone within my story, the only true way to tell if Sapiens has been truly seen by a person is his eye colour.
All false meetings with the god will show eyes anywhere between the colours of green and gold. True ones will always show his actual colour, red.
