I had a small argument with someone over Shippuden being considered a separate thing to the original.

They're not though. I don't think of them as separate, since Shippuden just continues right from the original.
And besides, who the ham starts a series a 1/3 of the way through it?

(Naruto is 1/3, Shippuden makes up the other 2/3)

Shippuden is clearly part of Naruto. I'm not sure why someone would argue it isn't.

shippuden is continuation of naruto. vast majority of shippudem is filler though. I realized that hslf way through the writer stopped trying. somewhere along the lines. To be honest great concept when the creator started but he never took the time developr characters until way later snd even then he didn't do a very good job.

he let it go on too long which is why the quality of some things is less than desirable.

10 years for a story is s long time in fact too long for something like Naruto. he should have taken a small break somewhere so he'd have fresh ideas.

i suspect money was a factor in his choice to continue it. maybe not like. the sole factor. but definitely there.

honestly a lot of popular animes aren't super well written.

sorry 2 doublepost but

i'm trying to learn, on the advice of the japanese major advisor, all the hiragana/katakana before i take japanese this fall
so i started with just writing the characters and using words i was familiar with e.g. katana, kimono, teriyaki
but then i was like 'hm what if i used naruto character's names' and i feel like such a weeb

i have non-weeby reasons to take japanese namely, after four years of latin and german and one of greek i literally cannot deal with gendered objects anymore, and after two years of chinese i realize i also can't deal with tones. but i have a six credit language requirement so i had to pick something.

on the japanese quiz today we had to romanize hiragana and one of the words was このは 'leaf' and i was like uhh yes i know this
the teacher also called us out for being 'ninjas who sneak into class without saying good morning'

This is probably the most dead, non-locked thread I have in my bookmarks tbh.

I said I was going to read through the first 10 chapters of Baruto.
And I sort of half did.
But I forgot, and lost my place
and tbh I don't want to read it again.

I think that's pretty telling of how I feel about the series, If i'm no longer even bothering to get the chapter 10.
