My past rats didn't eat thier hamock- The ripped out some the fluffy bit that was suposed to keep them warm and stuff, to make it more comfortable to them I supose, but the past rats I've had loved their hammocks. I think the reason my boys' didn't like it at first was because the cage we got was second hand, as was their tube, hammock rope and ledge. Maybe it still had the scent of the previous rats on it? I doubt that would be it though, the cage was extrememly clean and everythign else seemed to have been washed to get rid of any scent ^^
I know that my boys have been trying to rip out some of the wooly bit in thier hammock, they've ripped it enough so that when they're cold they can go between the layers and keep warm/hide X3 Its funny to see a huge moving lump but no rats.

Why are you fighting about this?
Kvikr loves his rat, she's his baby and would never do anything to harm her or make her upset.
It shouldn't matter if he only has one rat, at least he interacts with it a good amount of time during the day and doesn't leave her completely alone.
My friend had only one rat and he was just fine, well taken care of and loved. I'd play with him when I went over and nothing was wrong with him.

Aaaand.
Now then.
Rats are nocturnal and need a friend during the night. Having two or more is part of their basic husbrandy, imo, and not having two of a social animal just seems wrong to me.

I didn't know it was being 'dragged on', I just pop onto this thread every so often and sometimes say things.. sometimes don't. I may be a reptile keeper but I know and have done my share of research.

Guys stop! I did not join this club to read rediculous bickering. I joined to talk about rats and I'm sure everyone else here did to. So stop. Please.

Yes rats do better in pairs but no they don't always have to be in pairs. A lone rat can be just as happy as a pair.

Dogs are highly social animals but many people only get one and often times leave their dogs completely alone but no one says anything about that.

I had a baby rat from the age of 8 weeks. I gave her a friend and she killed her. So is it cruel to keep a lone rat or is it cruel to let her kill the others? You have to consider that rat not the human. I have own my far share of rats and my family has had them forever. I research my rats and make sure they are healthy and happy and with this little girl the way to make her healthy and happy is to keep her alone.

So no matter what I do with her I will always be cruel to her...

This group revolves around proving people wrong and arguements. I joined so long ago and within a week I was in tears cause you people kept argueing and telling me I dont love my rats. Just learn to get along and get over yourselves for one minute. we are here to talk about how good rats are not how 'Bad' their owners are.

I never said anything about the owners being 'bad'. Currently my animals are really only 'living' than 'thriving' right now.. I am doing things to fix this, however.
How do you know she would kill every single friend she was introduced to? I'm sure there's methods to prevent this.
