Yes; it's called a Harley rat.

You can read about how they started and see more pictures of them here. They're related to rexes, somehow.

I don't think Shayla is a Harley now that I look at them, but she may just be a poor velveteen or rex that never got it's curled whiskers. None the less she's precious.

I'm getting my seal-point, varigated berkshire, siamese dumbo girl in three days. She'll have to be alone for about four weeks while I monitor her and her health, and socialize her. Poor thing has been traumatized by the original owners..

Also, with the help of a very good, very new rattery I have found that's about an hour and a half away from me, I may have rex rats in my future lines. I'm doing a lot better, and I'm happy.

On a sad note, I had to put Sadie down due to her aggression and her old age. She kept biting me, and attacking the others no matter what I did. And Sally started getting shy/aggressive, so I rehomed her to a friend whom has better experience with such thing.

Shayla and Sascha may go to my friend as purely pets, and she's taking five of my pups out of Syria's litter. I'm getting three boys from her besides my dumbo girl, and overall I'm excited.

{Aww, no, not Sadie ;n; Rest in peace~ I do hope Sally will be happy in her new home.}
{Oh mai, she sounds precious .3. The poor rattie .n. I can't stand people like that >.>}

{Dat Harley ratter is so freaking adorbs x3x}

{My boys are doing good, we got a carrier for them, for trips, and we took their wheel back to the store, they were terrified of it. But really nothing to report.}
{-flails- I reeeeally hate that I can't get PetSmart rats, they have the cutest female dumbos. I hope to goodness that our local breeder/store gets dumbos, their ears are to die for x3x}

{And, on another note, I'm hoping to have a 'show-and-tell' day at my school this year. I want to teach everyone about rats, now that I have mine :3 The more people that know how wonderful ratters are, the better, yes? Hurhur, everyone who has come to my house since I got them has met my boys, and every one of them loves them x3 At first they're a little freaked out, but they get used to them fast .3. Remy and Bowser are so patient, and they never bite anyone. My good little boys x3}

Ah, thanks. I'd heard rats liked broccoli but didn't know it was that kind of good for them xD guess that's a lot more motivation to go out of my way to find some.
One of other guys in my grade gave me a really weird look when I was updating my friend on how lovey and attached my rat had become since I got her, and butted in to say something along the lines of "a sweet rat, my @$&.." ...he's a genuine hick so I can sort of understand that he'd buy the stereotypes but still just hearing that kind of bull makes me want to buy a mace. -_-

No problem ^^
:lol: Oh wow, I hate ignorant people like that. I feel so bad for my friends cause they always fall in love w/my rats but their moms won't let them get one. They're five-ten dollars, easy to take care of, adorable, well behaved, and people are afraid of them. *tsk tsk*

{Not too sure if I need to re-do a sign up form thingy... I joined this group just over two years ago but stopped posting when my girls got ill. If I need to re-join then someone shoo me away, please. But I'ma post here anyway, since technically I am still a member X3}

I miss this club X3 Just thought I might pop in to say hi! :) Also I just wanted to say that I got all my rats from Pets@Home/ Petsmart and all of my rats have been/are fine ^-^ My first boy lived until 3, my two girls lived a while- One passed away at just over 3 years, the other one just under 4. I got my two boys from the same store and they are perfectly healthy. I know that most pet stores are bad and the rats are normally unhealthy, but not all stores are the same ;)
My store gives you tons of info if you've not had a rat before, they ask for the size of the cage and strongly sugest that you buy same sex pairs. They tell you what foods to give to them as snacks/treats and what foods can harm them, they also tell you the dangers of not having anything to chew X3
Just wanted to get back into this thread, I'd love to talk about my two boys :3 My post is done X3

Hello, and welcome back. :T I kind of doubt they'd try to shoo an actual member just for not posting in a while when they won't even give the non-members that've been hanging around that sort of treatment.

Why do people say getting them from the petshop means they have health issues? I've seen some even suggest taking them to the vet immediately after getting one from a normal shop. What are they so worried about? My own came from a local petshop(a small family owned one, not even brandnamed) and aside from a couple of benign cysts she's extremely strong and healthy, and going to be three years old in October.

My petstore rats live between a year and a half to three years, and my breeder rats I've found live 2-4 years.

It really depends on the rat. I suggest a breeder, but I have some pretty healthy pet store rats myself. I have one over a year and a half with no signs of illness, she's stocky as all hell and extremely happy. Then I have another girl, who is nearing two years, that is about to pass that was also a pet store rat. Again, depends on the rat.

Also, petco has absolutely NO rats OR mice. I'm thinking they had a break out of some diseased/sick rats, I got a girl from the litter that they had last time and she was extremely sick. I put her on meds and now she's down to a few sniffles here and there but otherwise healthy as can be, just a little.. shy. They're like "ohh we're just deciding whether or not we'll have them anymore.." and I'm like.. my arse. Even their mice looked horrid last time. Probably got some snakes and lizards SERIOUSLY ill eating them. shaking my head atm.
