I was told bird food (depending what kind), cat & dog food are alright for rats.. along with certain types of cereal, oats, fruits & veggies.
Also.. Sally came back <3 shes awfully skinny.. but she came back none the less.
I have her with my new girl Spencer, and I'm hoping this will also encourage Spencer to eat more..

NO! Cat food is never okay for rats! It has way too much protein which can cause problems, even cancer, in rats. I don't know about bird food, but I personally give mine a combination of dog food (NOT puppy food) and Cheerios (or a similar all-wheat, non-sugary cereal). I give them that combination more than their lab blocks, actually. And, try giving them some apples (no seeds), bananas, tomatoes, etc. Before giving a rat any fruit or vegetable, I'd recommend Googling a list of okay foods for rats to eat. The Rat Fanclub is a good website to check out, for their diet.

That's awesome to hear, especially with her being thin being the only concern.
I got an email about someone wanting to give me a rat, because their snake wouldn't eat it. I want to go get him so bad, but I'm not getting emails back, and I'm beginning to fear the worse ;;^;;

{When I first got my two, we didn't have rat food for a couple of days. We just gave them fruit and veggies... of course, I didn't realize that those were only supposed to be 25% of their diet then /fail}

I don't have a dog and don't have birds or rabbits so all I have is cat food or cheerios >~<
They have been fighting recently so last night I moved them to the bigger cage we have and stayed up till 5am to keep an eye on them. They did not fight Once last night! I'm happy!! Though they do seem to be a bit stressed. Is that normal when switching cages?

{I've heard Cheerios are okay. Just remember to give them their fruit and veggies.}
{About the fighting, well, those rats love to roughhouse. My boys are a good example. As long as they're not biting or scratching each other in a way that draws blood, they're fine, just playing.}

Cheerios will be fine for them. c:
It's normal for them to be a little stressed. Putting them in a new cage means that they are in a new environment with new smells. And, since they are in a new neutral territory with no smells of either rat, it means that they may have lost their social heiarchy - there's no leader. They may fight a little bit more, or may try to wait it out until the cage smells like them again.
