(I'm pretty sure it's different for everyone, though Mei always appears for me when I need her. I usually have to be feeling intense emotion or in a quiet and peaceful place. My examples are when I'm in my room attempting and apparently succeeding in mediation, or when I'm extremely scared or angry... she'd there to talk and help me feel better and is very good at calming me down, cuz she knows me from the inside out)
