For me it's usually two months before I PM the person doing the design c: I tend to stay patient since I know how busy life can get.
That or I forget how long it's been and they sneak up on me with the design and I'm wondering where the hades it came from. XD

honestly, it depends on the artist for me. Some are just really busy, and if it's an artist + design that you're willing to wait for then it's worth it. But also you have to consider the time of the year, and what they might have going on in real life. Maybe just talk to them politely (key word politely, you wont get anywhere otherwise) about it. c:
