There is no way that all really happened. Alternate timeline. Karkat and Dave don't stay dead, and probably neither do Gamzee, Jane, and Jake. Not quite sure about Kanaya, she's probably the next troll to die...

I met Hussie in March at ECCC and I asked him why he always kills his characters and he said: "I don't know, because I felt like it". The update explains my question now.
