Now that I'm thinking about it... What is this "FanFic Competition"? Is it just a writing competition between us members or something?

It is between us on the thread, yes.

What it is is that we've been working on voting for a theme; looks like it's the Zombie Apocalypse AU.
Once it officially starts, we'll all have two weeks to write our fic and submit them.
(I believe we've decided on one-shots around 5k words long, right?)
I'm still not clear on how we're judging them, but once we figure it out, all the fics will be judged, and the winner gets a prize of pets that everyone has pooled in for.

Also guys I have an Itachi ring and, being in college, I plan to wear the ring everyday or so ( I can miss a day or two on accident. 0 so all my pictures of my college years will show my inner, I will never grow up nerd, because the ring will always be on my finger.

Hey, would it be okay if I split the 5000k story
or less into two parts/chapters? I sorta want to
do a long time skip (or whatever you call those)
and I suck at transitions?

(By two parts I mean by separating the time
periods with a small line or something)

The word length will remain the same, though.

50-500 words is considered a drabble.
500-3000 words is considered a shorter one-shot.
3000-5000 words is considered a longer one-shot.

The best way to do this is to stick our min and max in the middle - and have a 1000 word minimum and 4000 word maximum one shot contest.

(but you can also narrate a time skip. "The next night..." "the next morning..." "Several hours later...." "5 hours had passed and...."

FANFICTION CONTEST!

That's right! With my return from the dead, and the amount of active members rising - it's about time we give a fanfiction contest a second chance (after it failed two years ago - because we tried to hit two birds with one stone and combine fan art with it as well)

RULES:

Length: Entries will strictly be one-shots, with word length being a minimum of 1000 words and a maximum of 4000 words!

Rating: Because this is Chicken Smoothie, entries CANNOT under any circumstance be 18+ rated. PG-13 is the most mature rating allowed.

Literacy: You write however you're comfortable; whether it's in 1st person or 3rd person. Past tense or present tense. This isn't English class and we're not gonna red mark every mistake you make, but please try to use the best grammar/spelling/punctuation you can as it will impact how thoroughly your story is read by the judges.

Submission: For ease of access, entries must be posted on sites like Fanfiction.net (my recommendation), Archive of Our Own, or a separate Chicken Smoothie thread (in the writing forum). After that, you can send the link through PM to any of the judges. DO NOT send the whole story through private message or post the whole story as a post on this thread. It must be posted somewhere else/somewhere permanent. This prevents your entry from getting lost.

THEME:

After several weeks of polls, the majority has decided on a theme...

ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE

Guidelines:

- The world is infested with zombies (your choice of physique, although sizing them up and making them as strong as the ninjas they once were is super recommended.)

- Infection must at least be spread by bite (all other methods of infection are up to you)

- Healing jutsus CANNOT stop infection. There is no cure. Do not make it too easy for the characters, haha.

- Modern AUs are accepted! Feel free to take this right out of the canonverse.
