did you export it as .gif, and remembered to add .gif to the end of the filename?
i find it tons easier to edit using online-image-editor. that's what i use to create all of my signatures.

Yes, but I upload it in layers as gimp runs off as layers.

Yes, but I upload it in layers as gimp runs off as layers.Gimp is horrible for Gifs. My advice would be to use any other site bar Gimp. There is a tutorial on the DD page where I have added how to get ImageReady CS2 From Adobe which is incredible for gif making.
