yeah that part definantly came from the thesis story, i know A LOT more about greek mythology than roman even though its similar. But i couldve swore she said something about rome too. Of course that couldve been gladiators

I think some of the characters names came from Rome, like Cato and Cinna.

Actually Cinna is a character in one of Shakespeare's plays. And did you know that Panem means bread. That's what latin classes can do for you.

I knew that. I watched a video a while ago that was an interview with Suzanne collins, a question came up that asked why Panem is called Panem, and she said that she named it Panem after the character Rue and her district. I nearly cried...

That's good. I've drawn countless Peeta's. Some anime, some realistic some cartoony. But I don't have a darned scanner
I figured out why SC called Rue Rue. Because rue means to like regret something, and Katniss regrets not saving Rue's life.

Panem means bread and Circuses means like entertainment. *pokes Plutarch* He once said that as long as the Capitol has food (the bread) They will give up thier power and sucumb to being entertained while being over powered. I've read the books way to many times.
