Here's my rat. He's a loner right now. His name is Amadeus, and he's a total sweetheart. They're not very good pictures, but I'll get better ones later.

Oh my goodnesssss!! He is soooo cute!! I just wanna snuggle him!!

Now I feel terrible. My girls aren't even a year and I don't know how long I can keep Apollo. I didn't have the time to handle her in the past couple of months (they were fed, cage cleaned, etc.), but she's gotten to where I can't touch her. Period. I've put on gloves and she attacks them if I try to pick her up. Her sister is fine, I can snuggle her and everything. Any advice?

Monkey's eyes are black, which I think is weird since she is mostly white.. Oh, and if you are wondering, her name comes from the fact that when I first got her, she started climbing all around the cage and even hung upside down, she still does today. Amadeus is so cute!! He is the cutest little fattie I've ever seen!

That's cool~! I barely ever see white rats that don't have pink eyes. :3 And haha, I like how she got her name! That's s cute!

I have a question.. My sister's pet rat (Truffles) is a fat(ish) female rat. She doesn't bite, but whenever I hold her, she will actually LICK me. Is that weird, or is it common in rats?

Amadeus does that! xD I think it's adorable and kind of hilarious. I was wondering if it was common too, haha~

That's weird. :/ I've only heard of that happening in rats that were pregnant. She might not be pregnant, but maybe she's a bit hormonal? Maybe you could try taming her again from scratch?
Does she attack you inside or outside of her cage, or both?

Both. She's more defensive of herself than of anything else. I've tried working on getting her not to bite the glove through the bars by squeaking every time, but she still chomps down, then sniffs.

Like I said, I don't know much.. This website helped me get Monkey to come out of the cage when she was still scared of me when I got her.

All of my rats do that, some more than others. I know Annabel does it a lot. So, from what I've seen it's rather common.

I wish I could help, but I've never had this problem. I know Sophie kinda got that way when she was sick. She got very nippy, and once I took her out of the cage she was fine, in fact she acted totally different. Not saying that she is sick, I'm just saying that it might not be a bad idea to keep an eye on her.
